wondering if anyone hs some info
I never post but at the suggestion of a friend I am on this problem. My father in law has alzhimer's and has been in assissted living since 2008. We have moved him once already and are looking to do it again. The place he is in now is not a good fit for him and we are in the process of looking for a new facility with a memory care unit. He has had some issues lately that we feel have not been adressed where he is now.
I know most of you nice ladies are too youngto be dealing with an issue like this but if anyone has any suggestions of facilities I would really be thankful. Believe me it really is difficult when your parents age....
Re: wondering if anyone hs some info
I'm not sure how convenient/close this would be for you, but there's Blue Hills Alzheimers Care Center in Stoughton, Ma.
Good luck and I hope you find a better fit for your FIL. I understand, my grandmother had alzheimers. : (
I worked at Laurelmead, a retirement community, on Blackstone Blvd in Providence. The adjoining assisted care facility / nursing home is Epoch. I believe that they have an Alzheimer's / Memory Care unit. There's another Epoch location in Providence, too.

A friend of mine's mother was at The Village at Waterman Lake.

I believe St. Antoine Residence has a memory care unit.

I remember that place where we got our wedding pictures suggested a donation to the Alzheimer's Association (rather than charging a fee), so they may be worth looking into. It is called the Village at Waterman Lake, in Greenville.

Thank you ladies so much. We will look into these suggestions. Since he has been a private pay for so long he is beginning to run out of funds so it would be great if any of these places has a medicare option for when the money is gone. I feel so bad for my husband having to do this by himself,he has no siblings and my mother in law is less than helpful(but that is another story).
I tell you it doesn't pay to save your money for your whole life because the nursing homes get it all in the end...poor guy should have enjoyed what he had. 30 years as a policeofficer and this is what he gets. Sorry for the vent/rant....
I've dealt with Alzheimer's & putting a parent in a nursing home, but not together. And not in RI.
I just wanted to send you a ::HUG:: and let you know that you'll be in my thoughts and prayers.
Hey there, My grandmother is actually in a memory care unit at The Greenville Center in Smithfield. It seems to be good there. We had also checked out St. Elizabeth's in Bristol which was really nice.
Jen
my fil was in two different places, but they were in mass. i can get the info if you need it.
i visited asria place (sp?) in lincoln and it was wonderful! i know my dad is looking into places for my grandmother so i can ask him for some names too.
i totally understand what you're goin g through. it sucks.
My husband's grandmother was at EPOCH and I think his family really liked it. This was before I knew them so I have no idea about the cost, but they have good things to say about it.
I'm sorry you have to go through this
