companion gardening

So, I'm trying to plan my garden for this summer. I live in the Southeast. I want to plan my garden so I can take the most advantage of companion planting. Any of you live in this area and have any good ideas or websites I could look up.

Re: companion gardening

  • I have a book with a great list of good and bad "neighbors." If you private message me your email, I'll scan it and send it to you!
I twitter randomly about gardening, sustainable living, local restaurants, cooking and more. Follow me on Twitter at Sarah_STL
  • I'm new at this. How do you private message???
  • OK. That's done. How do I check messages?
  • Your local Master Gardener office may have some good fact sheets.

On the far left blue bar, under the heading "My Boards" the first link is "check private messages."

I want to try companion planting too, and have heard nothing but good things about the book Carrots Love TomatoesLast year, our carrots loved our tomatoes so right off the bat I think this book is spot on!

This gardening classic was first published in 1975, and now a second generation of gardeners who prefer pest-resistant planning to chemicals will find a place for it on the shelves. Not only does it tell what to plant with what, but also how to use herbal sprays to control insects, what wild plants to encourage in the garden, how to grow fruit and nut trees, how to start small plots or window-box gardens, and much more. It's one of the most practical books around for any gardener of edibles, no matter how serious or casual.
