Conversation we just had:

Coworker: Do you know why the flags are at half mast today?

Me: I'm pretty sure it's in memorial of the victims of what happened in Tuscon.

Coworker: What are you talking about?

Me:  If you don't know what happened in Tuscon I am going to hit you in the back of the head.

<Blank stare>

Me: The shootings that happened at the grocery store..

Coworker (cutting me off): Oh right, the congresswoman or whatever.

Me: I'm really glad I didn't have to resort to physical violence. The President is going down for the memorials.

Coworker: Oh wow, it's a pretty big deal then.

And this woman is our communications director...who pays zero attention to what's happening in the world.

It wouldn't be as bad if she weren't the communications director. I mean, aren't comm people supposed to keep up with things? Some comm offices I've worked in play CNN throughout the entire workday. I guess she doesn't do that...
