The Royal Wedding Date

April 29, 2011

And The Today Show was interviewing a bunch of brides who are pissed because now it's not "their day" anymore.

Re: The Royal Wedding Date

  • Holy crap, that's soon.  Although... if I was filthy rich I'm sure I could have pulled off a sweet wedding in a few months' time.

And that's atrocious about brides being mad that it's not "their day"... gross.  Just gross.

  • My favorite response was the girl who was upset because she thought she wouldn't be able to watch it on TV...until she realized that it will air in the morning in the U.S., and her ceremony isn't until 2:30 p.m, so it's fine.

  • I read that article on MSNBC yesterday. Those girls are nuts. I'm sure their friends and family are going to bail on their wedding because it is interference with the royal one. Confused

  • That's DH's birthday.

Those brides are crazy. Um I'm pretty sure the royal wedding will not downplay "your" day.

I will be watching it though

    My brothers birthday.

Well, you can inform him that it's no longer his day.

    Same for your H, md&b.

LOL!! This is so hilarious. Thanks for posting SBS.

I also am very surprised that it's so soon. We planned ours really quickly, but we didn't have to worry about the pressure of traditions and a crazy guest list like they must. We were free to do our own thing the way we wanted to, I can't even imagine the coordination that must be going into their event!

  • And, I'm confused. Isn't that a Friday? My kids are in a wedding that's on April 30, which is a Saturday. Are Friday weddings common in the UK?

Before the date was announced, I remember someone on the news saying that Kate Middleton specifically wanted to get married on a Friday, so I just chalked it up to a cultural tradition.

Well, you know, only one person can get married on any one day, obviously.  Confused

And I've heard Friday is an unlucky day for a wedding ("Friday for crosses," meaning death, right?)
