I felt old

I went to the mall yesterday. After looking on the hollister website I decided I want to go and actually try jeans on bc I have no idea what size I should buy.

Dumb idea.

I felt so old, that music was annoying. How in the world do they hear each other talk? I think it was Lauren that mentioned the music. Needless to say, I did not try anything on. I basically walked in a circle around the store and left.

I also went into American Eagle, I used to really love their jeans. Just about as bad as Hollister. I felt all self conscious going in there.

After those two stores I had no more patience for anything and left.  I saw some Silvers @ Dillards and I was super tempted to try them on, but I didn't. I learned on, "Say Yes to the Dress" why bother trying things on that you can't afford. So true. If they fit me well I would have been so sad that I couldn't for out $80 for jeans.

Re: I felt old

  • Sometimes Forever 21 can crank their music up too loud for my liking as well.  Plus it sucks when I am shopping with the baby.  She hates loud music and freaks out.  So I can't shop in some stores when I am with her.

But I am sure Forever 21 is not concerned about mothers.  IDK, I guess I am not really in their target demographic!  But whatever, their clothes are cheap and somewhat stylish......

  • I've been in Forever 21 a few times and I never found anything I liked. However, the last time I was there I was still @ my old job and didn't need cute clothes for anything. I am in desperate need of work appropriate clothes. I also feel like a creeper when I go in there because I'm older than all the cashiers and most of the people in there.

  • Yeah, I was the one who mentioned their ridiculous music. WTF is wrong with those stores? It's ok to play some music but why the hell does it have to be blasting? It's a clothing store in the mall, not a freaking club.

I can't do American Eagle anymore either, their stuff is too young looking. Well, actually I tried some jeans on there in recent months but they didn't fit. Although here I am, speaking of stuff being too young looking, yet I've gotten most of my recent jeans from Wet Seal! Their jeans are soooo cheap and they're great when you need some quick skinny or boot cut jeans.

I also have recently discovered the jeans at Loft, they were fitting me nicely. I have to buy short length jeans, and even then I usually still need to get them tailored.

You?!  I am almost 30 years old and I am lugging around my kid in a stroller!  I swear I am probably older than some of the mothers accompanying that teeny bopper kids.  It is South Texas after all........the land of teenage pregnancy.  Ok, wait.  I take that back, there are other moms who shop there......teen moms.  The only difference between me and them is they don't take their kids shopping.

  • I feel the same way.. I always think there's a rave going on in the Hollister/Abercrombie stores! And the smell makes me gag now. Don't know how anyone shops in there anymore.

I usually find some good jeans at the Nordstrom BP section for less than 50 bucks.(they also alternate the length for free)  And sometimes TJ maxx has some skinny jeans that fit good.

I will have to check the Loft out for jeans.  Why have I never thought of them while shopping for jeans?  I mean, most of my work pants came from there so I am amazed that I never thought of them.  Plus, their cut of pants are more friendly to my figure since I had a kid.  I am sad to say, that at least for the time being, I can't wear juniors jeans anymore :(

I'd never thought of them either until I had a $100 gift card. I really never went into that store at all, but thanks to that gc, I'll probably shop there more often now. Although a lot of their tops are overpriced for me, but I've found some cute stuff on the sale racks for under $20.

  • Don't forget the lighting! It's so dark in those stores I can barely see the merchandise! I shop almost exclusively at J Crew and Banana Republic now.

Jena- Have you tried Lucky Jeans? They have an outlet at Ellenton down by me and the jeans there are priced ~$40-60. They are usually $100+. You should come down and we'll go shopping!

  • FYI, american eagle pants stretch horribly....I worked there in HS. Also, I just bought jeans at target (wanted to try out skinny jeans cheaply) and they are surprisingly comfy and fit well. Since you are little too I thought that might work for you!

  • @ Jenny, the spending $40 on jeans makes me cringe, lol. I'm so cheap when it comes to clothes, which is probably why I can never find any that fit me, huh? Maybe I should break down and buy some better jeans.

@ Ali, I will try out target jeans. I'm very over skinny jeans though. I have one pair, that I just bought like 3 weeks ago, and I only bought them bc they were on mega sale @ Jcpenney.

Lol! I'm cheap too, but unfortunately you can't find many good pairs of jeans that are less than $40. The Wet Seal ones I was talking about are $15 but they're not gonna be the most high-end pair of course, haha.
