Howdy, I'm a Houston nestie, but I'm hoping some of you might be closer to the Leonard area & could potentially help out with the following:
A member of the FTAC of 11 was killed in a car accident last week. His family is struggling financially to pay medical & funeral costs. Additionally they are looking for volunteers from the area to house students who will be in the area for the funeral services, if you know anyone in that area who could help, please pass this along. The Corps of Cadets association sent out the following e-mail:
Cadet Taylor Gillespie '11 was killed in an auto accident Sunday, January 9 on his way back to College Station. He was the CO for P-2 and a RV. He and his dad T. J. Gillespie had left their home town of Leonard, Texas on slick snow covered roads around 9:45 am and the accident occurred around 10:00 am just about 10 miles from their home. T. J. survived the accident with a leg fracture and shoulder injury.
Mr. Gillespie is a former aircraft mechanic supervisor and has been out of work for several months. Mr. Gillespie, who was driving when the Gillespies' car spun out on ice, was released from the hospital earlier this week. Obviously there are health bills to pay. In addition there are funeral expenses and auto/travel expenses. The family respectfully asks that rather than flowers, you send a donation to:

Trenton TX 75490Corps members will be in the area for Friday's viewing and Saturday's funeral. Taylor also was a member of Ross Volunteers, who will be here for the funeral. We need volunteer homes to house Corps members (and possibly family members) while in the area. I know you will all rise to the occasion. Please contact Jennifer Wilkerson, wife of Taylor's youth minister, directly at jennaw88@yahoo.com. Include your name, address, phone number and the number of Cadets or their families you can house. She especially would like to hear from Corps families in McKinney and north -- although regardless of where you live, please let her know if you have a room open. I would suspect you need to have your bedroom open at least Friday and Saturday night.
If you would like to send notes of condolences to the Gillespie family, you can send them to
Cornerstone Baptist Church
PO Box 130
