workers comp ??

So DH got hurt at work last week and told his boss and his boss gave him a claim# to give the walk in or er when he went to go get checked out. So he was given a drs note that he needed to stay home for 4 days. His boss told  him that he cannot get paid by workers comp and that he won't pay him either for the missed days. Does this sound right? I thought workers comp had to pay for time out of work??

Re: workers comp ??

  • I think they may only have to pay him for the 4th day.

I just read this on the State website pertaining to worker's comp laws in RI

If you are incapacitated for at least three (3) consecutive days from earning full wages and incapable of gainful employment at comparable wages, compensation benefits may begin on the fourth day from the date of injury. You may also be entitled to medical treatment, benefits for disfigurement or loss of use, or participation in a rehabilitation. Dependents of employees who suffer a work-related fatality may also receive benefits.
