recipe update
Thanks everyone for your input on my taco soup canned bean dilemma. I'm glad there was a difference of opinion -- it makes me feel less silly for having to ask the question!
I made the soup today and split the difference -- I drained and rinsed the black beans but added the chili beans with the sauce. I substituted a can of chicken broth for the beer as was suggested by many of the reviewers. I also used 2 large chicken breasts which was about 1 lb. It was good, especially with cheese, chips, and sour cream on top! It's on my do-over list.
