I had a question from the Friday Five- your allergist says it's better to shower at night for your allergies? I'm just curious why if they elaborated on it. My stepson has allergies and if that helps I want to encourage him to keep showering at night if this does help. Thanks for the info!

Re: @ Laurie
Yes, she always recommended that we (my sister and I since we both have allergies) take off our clothes in the bathroom and put them right into the hamper and shower at night because it helps to clean off any pollen or dust that you have accumulated during the day. Additionally Your skin cells fall off so if you scrub/exfoliate or even just wash it helps less to end up in your bed. Even if you don't think you look dirty you still have pollen and allergens and dust and dirt that accumulate over the course of a day especially a boy who might be running around outside or playing in dirt for various sports. Now I like to wash the grime and dirt of NYC off!
She preferred that we didn't wear clothes/shoes into our bedrooms because of the allergens we could be tracking in. That is somewhat unrealistic but we always showered at night and always left our clothes in a hamper in the bathroom. Plus we had allergen covers on the mattresses to help stop dust mites and dust from getting in the pillows and mattresses that help.
Plus the steam helps open up nasal passages and whatnot and I find it to be relaxing.
We've had allergies/asthma all our lives so we've been to the allergist a lot if you have other questions let me know!
