Visitor questions: Astoria & wine tasting....
Hi gals!
I have a friend in town this weekend, and I think I want to go to Astoria as neither one of us has been before. Besides the obvious Goonies stuff, what else do you recommend to do there/close/near there? We're kind of "up for anything" kind of girls. The cheaper the better! : )
Also...any wineries that have free/cheap tastings that you recommend? We're both pretty broke, but I want her to see a little bit of everything while she's here...
Thanks ladies!

The column has a great view and is very beautiful.

Clemente's has fantastic clam chowder and fish & chips. They catered for us and Lisa, the owner, is awesome.

The riverfront has a cute trolley ride you can do also.

The Rosebriar is a cute little place to stay - if you're planning on staying the night. And they have a great breakfast.

Here's some info on the movie tours: http://www.oldoregon.com/visitor-info/entry/movie-tours/
Also, as you head into town - assuming you're taking 26 to 101. When you go into Astoria that way there is a visitor center right when you get into town that has maps and brochures for everything.
Have fun!

Is your friend a beer drinker? When we went to Astoria we stopped by both Wet Dog Cafe & Fort George in addition to doing to goonie stuff, the trolley/waterfront and the column like Jeni said.
Did you know the school where Kindergarten Cop was filmed is also there? "Today we are going to play a new game called 'Who is your daddy & what does he do'?" That movie cracks me up.... Although being from CA maybe you guys aren't into Arnold movies...
