I had a really long post about kitchen reno's written out for you and then it got ate and now I'm wishing I had your phone number so I could just call you and tell you all the information... But anyway, here goes, only shorter.
Pick everything at once... It's hard to match things after you have half of it picked. Also, pick something you know you like and match everything off that. You should then end up with a theme you like, colours you like, etc.
If you are doing laminate countertops, go high quality and install them yourselves. SUPER EASY and WAY CHEAPER.
If you go with small glass tiles, they are hard to grout nicely. Watch your contractors like a hawk if they do them for you and make sure they get the tiles clean.
Go semi neutral with countertops. We had a green countertop picked and decided to go with brown to be more neutral so future people or us could repaint easily.
If you are doing an island, watch the walkway width.
People seem to be doing mostly drawers on the base cabinets and they really like them...
Anyway, if you have questions feel free to ask a novice...
Melting Snow... because it means that spring is actually on the way and it's not snowing or cold.
Re: Alyssa
Thanks so much for the input!
We are going back to the cabinet place on Sunday. I'm hoping we can finalize a cabinet then. We are buying pretty much everything from the same place, so I'm hoping that we will be able to match easier.
We have decided definitely on granite countertops so I know we won't be doing that installation ourselves! We are doing an island (taking out a wall) so we are basically using the wall as our walkway guide (thankfully).
Tomorrow the other company we are considering hiring is coming. I definitely will be asking you lots of questions!
