Smoothie recipes anyone?

I can't stand yogurt and I know most recipes have yogurt in them.  However, I have seen some without but can never remember where.  Does anyone have any good recipes?

Re: Smoothie recipes anyone?

  • The "base" we use:

    - 2 cups frozen strawberries

-1 frozen banana (peel before freezing - great for over ripe bananas)

-1/2 cup fruit juice (whatever we have in the fridge, I usually then splash in more as I'm blending to get a desired thickness - V8 Fusion is good)

    - 1 or 2 tablespoons of honey

    -1 cup milk

    -1/2 cup yogurt**

**I don't always have yogurt on hand, so I'll sometimes just omit it completely, or substitute in vanilla ice cream. If you don't add either, you might need to add more honey or sugar to sweeten it up just a touch.  (I probably taste it 10 times while I'm making it)

I usually start with the fruit and juice, then add the milk/yogurt/ice cream according to creaminess I'm desiring that evening.

Blueberries (if you don't mind little blueberry skin bits) and raspberries are my favorite add ins.

  •  The swiss miss one is one of my favorites from the WW Hungry Girl blog that I copied and pasted.  NO yogurt!  To make it thicker add more frozen fruit.  You can also puree the banannas, freeze them and I think that will act like ice cream only way healthier!  WW had that as a tip for a frozen creamy treat.  The other two recipes are ones that I found, but haven't tried.

"Swiss Miss Sensible Sweets Diet Hot Cocoa Packets

If you want some chocoliciousness (yeah, it's a word now) in your smoothie, this is definitely the way to go. Dissolve a packet in 1/4 cup of hot water in a glass. Add 1/2 cup of cold water, and transfer to the blender... then perhaps add some frozen strawberries and/or bananas?

Each packet has 25 calories, 0g fat, 4g carbs, 1g fiber, and 2g protein.

Let me know how these are!

  • 1 atkins protein shake any flavor (I like the chocolate royale)

    1 cup frozen berries/fruit

Grind in blender.  Yum with lots of protein.

  • The one I make most mornings:

1 scoop of chocolate protein powder

    1 banana

    1/2 cup skim milk

    1 tablespoon of peanut butter

    5 ice cubes

Blend! It fits in a 16 ounce travel mug.
