Bar help

It is my BFF's birthday next month and I told her that I'd plan a night out for us.  She would really like to go to Jackson's (we went there on my birthday), but her H is really anti-club, so she doesn't think she'll be able to talk him into there.  Last year I planned The Lodge and McDinton's.  She loved both, but since she has a 3 year-old and doesn't go out much, she would like to try something else.  So, can you help me with some ideas?  We're in SH, so really any area of Tampa is fine, it's all about an hour away from us.

Re: Bar help

  • Ceviche on South Howard its cool. Tapas, Sangria, nice outdoor area if you don't want to sit in the lunge. There it also a couple of beautiful private rooms, but they are a little quiet when the restaurant itself is so quaint. There is also one somewhere in Clearwater. I'll keep thinking:)

  • In south tampa you could go to Dubliner since she liked Macdinton's when you last went.  It's a bar atmosphere but people still dance with the band so it's kind of the best of both.  For dinner you could go to Bungalow or The Lime.  Ceviche is good too like pp said but I hate their parking situation on Friday and Sat nights.  I basically only go there on weeknights now.

I also really like the World of Beers.. there are several now but I have been to the Westchase one and the N. Tampa one.  Both have fun restaurants nearby.  The World of Beer in Westcahse is right across from Maloney's which is a fun Irish Pub as well and they have decent food.  The one in N. Tampa is next to a Chillis and an Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza.  They always have live bands.

  • I second World of Beer....we prefer the one in Westchase (because we can walk to it).   As mentioned above, there are some good restaurants nearby.....we like Zen for Sushi and Maloney's has good Irish pub food.

WOB also has fantastic Sangria....for those non-beer drinkers.  :)

They usually have a live band on the weekends.  The outdoor patio is fantastic if you want to enjoy the music and still hear yourselves talk!

  • World of Beer is definately awesome.  The only thing is they don't serve any food, you have to order in.  The nearby restaurants provide free delivery there.  So that is usually our desert place.  Mmm  beer.
