any federal employees on here

my husband is waiting on final offer for a federal job his job location will be moving in a year after we move to the location the job is currently. Has anyone see employees being able to keep old locality pay since it will be higher then where they will be locating office to?

Re: any federal employees on here

  • I'm not an expert, but I don't believe it works that way. I think he will get paid based on the locality of the job.
  • YH will keep his base pay, and will receive the locality change based on where his work location is.  You can find out what he will make before and after here: http://www.opm.gov/oca/10tables/indexgs.asp

There may be extenuating circumstances for why his job is moving in a year, e.g., BRAC.  If that's the case, they may offer incentives to move such as a step bump.  Look into that, because I'm fairly certain (but not 100%) that locality pay cannot be maintained if the location does not warrant it.

  • Thanks ladies. I have read the opm thank you for the attachment. I don't believe that it a brac move they are just relocating the whole office to a new geographical area due to security issues with old location. There is talk about the employees keeping locality pay and or other incentives but they are not setting anything in stone and i didn't know what or if they have to offer employees anything to move.
