Scottie and Em's Little Blue House.

When we bought the place, the living room looked like this

But after we tore up the carpet....

IMG_2146 by esopkovich, on Flickr
And cleaned the place up...

IMG_2150 by esopkovich, on Flickr
It looked like this...

Now the entry looks like this...

And Scotties "office" is now in the living room (very recent change)

The full living room from the entryway (ignore the unfinished hallway and hallway window trim... we haven't touched the upstairs with a drop of paint yet, unfortunately)

Looking towards the dining room (not the best photo, but whatevs)

The sketches were done by a good friend of ours, and we're still working on some pieces to fill in this display.

Turning around, our non-functioning fireplace. We will likely re-tile it to better suit our style, but for now, we just kind of threw together this 'display' from random decor items we own...

Our super fancy dining room with cheap mismatched chairs we're borrowing from all over town. I have a large assembly of antique photos that are going on this wall, haven't been able to dedicate a day to finishing the layout yet ![]()

Dining room, working hard.

An artsy shot of the dining table we refinished in November.

This is what it looked like when we got it ($25 at an estate sale, from Pottery Barn like 10 years ago... lived through a family of 4 growing up)

Also in the dining room is our target wine rack, holds our tea and sake things also. It does the job, but we have a bar thing on our list of big desired purchases from CB. Some day.

Now, looking into the kitchen

Fancy little pantry and door to the back porch

Artsy photo of the herbs I kept in for the winter

And we're trying to get into the pompous world of crazy finishing salts...

IMG_6747 by esopkovich, on Flickr
Dinner on the back porch last summer. It's not the fanciest screened in porch by any means, but we feel like a million bucks enjoying a meal out there.

The animals enjoy it too

Back inside, and upstairs, our little bathroom. It's nice, luckily the previous owner gutted it from it's former 1960's self.

Our bedroom... since we haven't done anything decor wise (though I have some art pieces I'm dying to put up in here) and we have the saddest excuse for a closet, this is the one and only photo for today ![]()

The guest bed. This is the room that gets my great grandparents bedroom set. If it were a queen bed, it would be mine, but sadly it's not. Oh well.

IMG_1333 by esopkovich, on Flickr
It's actually a full 5 piece bedroom set, which is insane really, so here's a shot of the vanity. I'm just crazy about this set. They don't make furniture like this anymore.

I guess I'll close with the dog hanging out in the backyard ![]()

Now leave you bunch of creepers!!!

Re: Check out my digs!!! (finally!)
Great pictures. My Grandma had a vanity set just like the one you have and I love it.
And, you did a beautiful job with the living room floors.

Your house is really fantastic!
Your house is wonderful! You redid the hardwood yourself? We have a whole house full of hardwood that needs redone and I am wondering if it is a DIY project or not.
Your home looks so welcoming and a wonderful place to live!

Thanks, gals!
We got a steal on the place last spring (the owner was trying to move to Germany asap), and for a quaint little starter home, we feel extremely blessed.
A spacious kitchen was number one in our home search. We actually found a home in our #1 neighborhood (we're currently in our #2 neighborhood... only a few blocks from the #1), but the kitchen was so small, and it would have been impossible to expand it without a full on addition, we just had to pass.
I made a new post for anyone interested in DIY floor refinishing... quite the job, but it was worth it. We love the dark stain too. We both kind of have a modern style, but we're not fans of the cold, untouchable kind of modern, so the dark floors let us soften the room up with other components.
We still have so many plans for this place, I can't wait for spring.
I'm curious about the salts!
Wow, I love your house and the feel of it! The floor (and table) you redid looks awesome! I love the white in the kitchen too! I think we have the same spice rack.
Absolutely adorable!!
