Oregon Nesties
Dear Community,

Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

If you have questions about this, please email help@theknot.com.

Thank you.

Note: This only affects The Nest's community members and will not affect members on The Bump or The Knot.

Looking for family friends

My DH and I just moved here to be with his 10yr old son. We don't know many people here, and our "work" friends, don't have children.

We don't want him to be bored when he lives at our house. We live in the SW but are used to traveling pretty far (we came from Southern California), so downtown is no big deal for a play date. He plays sports, is good at math & science, skateboarding, video games and reading.

We are more intellectual than Nascar, enjoy outdoor hiking, running. We do watch football games sometimes, but don't drive around with flags on our cars. We do not have concealed weapons permits, nor do we want them. We are Costco members and have good manners. I say all this because we would like our son to have playmates whose parents are stable, productive members of the community, who value good manners and vocabulary, education and healthy fun.  We are open minded and we teach our son to be as well.

Re: Looking for family friends

  • I'd look into meetup.com groups to see if there are mom groups for those with older kids or even just family oriented ones for camping, hiking etc.

Handsonportland.org is a site for volunteering that offer many for kids as well where you may be able to connect with kids and parents who enjoy the same values you do.
