"Lucky" Gala

I'm planning our Fair Queen Gala (its actually called the "Fairest of the Fair.") We're trying to come up with a "lucky" theme.

One thing we're doing to honor our volunteers is getting wine/champagne glasses and putting a lucky penny for each year that they served.

Any ideas?

Re: "Lucky" Gala

  • I'm afraid I really don't understand the event.  You wouldn't put the pennies in the glass when it has champagne in it, right?

Some elements to maybe make a theme from: four leaf clovers, horseshoes, lottery tickets (scratch-offs are a wildly popular favor if they'd be appropriate for the formality), lucky seven, maybe some play on Snow White's seven dwarves.

I could have explained the event better. It's our Fairest of the Fair Gala. The Fairest of the Fair is the Fair Queen of our small county fair.

We won't be serving champagne or wine, but we want to honor our volunteers. We're going to have a table set up with a glass for each of our 30 volunteers. Each glass will have their name on a placard and one "lucky penny" for each year that they have volunteered at the fair. In the past we've had our crowning outside in July, so we're really trying to make it more formal and elegant. I do like the idea of "lucky seven."
