Need help - cake rec and SoBe restaurants

Hi girls, I'm from the west coast florida board but I need some sofla recs.

I'm helping to plan a bridal shower for a friend in pembroke pines and I will be staying in dania.  I am looking for a cake baker to do a small 2-tiered cake to feed about 15 people.  I've gotten a few quotes and they are pretty high.  If anyone knows someone who does cakes, I would love some recs!

Also, we are doing the bachelorette party in South Beach (actually staying a little farther north in Miami beach on Collins and 50-something).  I need some recs for somewhat reasonably priced dinner restaurants and places to go out.  I haven't lived in Miami in 10 years so I'm pretty sure Amnesia isn't open anymore.. ;)  I know a lot has changed and I have no idea what is good.  Someone suggested Barton restaurant but I heard it's very pricey.  Thank you girls in advance!!

  • Edda's cakes are in Pembroke Pines, i've heard they're good. I got my wedding cake from We take the cake in Ft. Lauderdale and they are so good! Also if you are looking for places in Pem. Pines I know the Village tavern in the Pembroke Gardens did my shower and they were pretty reasonable and really good! Good Luck!

  • I won't be much help with restaurants near South Beach.  Have you tried Anna Paz for cakes?  Publix is also on option...I know it's a grocery store, but they made a small tiered cake for a friend and it was fantastic.

  • I got my wedding cake from Edda's too. It was gorgeous, but very $$$. For a bridal shower, I would definitely go with Publix. They are reasonable priced, look good, and taste great. I would go with the whipped topping and pudding filling- delicious!
