What did you do with your dress??
Morning ladies!
I'm wondering what you all did with your dress? I don't see wearing it or giving it to my daughters, but am a little apprehensive to sell it.
What did you do?
Re: What did you do with your dress??
I decided to keep mine because, even though a future daughter probably wouldn't wear it, pieces of it can be used in all sorts of projects. I think it's really sweet when a wedding dress is used to make christening/baptism gowns and quilts that could possibly be passed down through the family.
If you don't see yourself keeping it for any of those reasons and don't want to sell it, you could always find one of those charities that helps brides in need.

Mine is hanging in a closet at my parent's house. I am going to keep it - and then each baby I have will get a baby blanket made from some of the material. There was some beading on the dress that I am going to save - so if I have a daughter then we can use some of the beading in her dress! :-)
I put mine in a big shopping bag to bring it back from Mexico. It's still sitting in that bag... dirty... on the floor of my closet. Ooops.

Mine is a dress for Aislyn to wear when she is Christened. If there is enough left, I am asking for a boy one to be made too.
I sewed the pearls of my mom's dress to my hair flower. Her dress was beautiful and I would have love to use it, but she was like a size 2 when she got married and I'm a 16...so there was no way I was gonna fit in it.
With that same idea I think I wanna keep mine, so my daughter (or son) can use parts of it on their wedding. The beading, fabric for a handkerchief or something like that. I'm also keeping my mom's pearls for my children to use if they want to.
Mine is still in its garment bag, dirty as well! I think I will eventually get it preserved when I get around to it (which means it will probably be hanging in its bag for another 6 months, lol)
I like the idea of using it for kids, though... that is IF we ever choose to have any!

Sounds like I'm the odd man out. I got my cleaned and preserved in a box about 2 weeks after we got back. I got my dress at David's. The day I bought my dress I also bought the preservation kit. It was really very simple. Here's a link:

It's sitting on the top shelf of my closet. If I really want to do something with it one day I'll just go ahead and open up the box
This.
I have no idea what to do with it. It?s just hanging in my closet for now. Who knows if I'll ever do anything with it. Is that odd that I don't really have any attachment to my dress?
