Dr. in BR review

just wondering if any of you ever saw dr. dunaway in Baton Rouge at the Fertility Institute..  i have an apt scheduled with him on the 3rd of Feb because thought he would be able to help with the PCOS and having a baby.  Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Dr. in BR review

  • My husband and I had a consultation with him, but we chose to go with another RE in town (Dr. Webster at Woman's) for several reasons: (1) We waited over 2 hours for our appointment (2) We felt rushed through the whole thing (3) The practice lacked the personal attention I was looking for (4) My procedures would have to be done in NOLA.

Everyone I've spoken to (and it's a long list) compares the two docs like apples and oranges --- they both are really good at what they do, it just comes down to who you feel more comfortable with.  For us, it was Dr. W.

Allinduetime is on this board sometimes, and she had a beautiful set of boy/girl twins with the help of Dr. D.

  • I saw Dr. Dunaway and was very pleased - not just because we were a success, but for a number of reasons.  I had glowing referrals from former patients at both practices.

    1. At the time we were pursuing treatment, Dr. Dunaway's office had a 3-4 week wait for a new patient appointment, whereas Womans' had a 12+ week wait.

    2. His nurse, Jackie, was extremely helpful and took my calls, literally every other day, without making me feel like a pest. =) She also knew we were 100% out of pocket, and connected us with a program that we qualified for that paid for an entire cycle of injectable meds ($2200+).

    3. Depending on your cycle and which day of the week your procedures fall on depends on which location you will have to be seen at.  I never had to go to NOLA during my two cycles, but my timing fell on a weekday.  At one point we thought we would have to go to NOLA for a Sunday IUI, but I ended up being ready earlier and was able to do it at his BR office.

    4. The follow up that they provide after getting pregnant was a huge relief for me - once betas showed I was pregnant, I was seen for weekly growth ultrasounds to make sure everything was progressing appropriately.  I was released from him at 10 weeks, and saw my OB for my first appointment that same week, so I didn't have a long time frame from + test to 1st appointment to worry myself sick.

Hope this helps you out!  PM me anytime if you have questions.
