Pregnant ladies who go to Maumee OB/GYN

Hi ladies.  I came over from the Bump since the local board over there is completely dead.  I got my BFP Monday morning and called to schedule my first appointment.  The receptionist asked for my insurance info and said she'd call me back to schedule it.  I still haven't heard back from them so I think I'm going to call back tomorrow.

Anyways, I was just wondering how many weeks out your first appointment was scheduled.  I'm kind of anxious to find out when it will be b/c DH and I agreed to wait until after my first appointment to tell our parents.  It seems like it varies anywhere from 6 weeks to 12 weeks based on the bump's national board.

Thanks in advance and have a great night!

Re: Pregnant ladies who go to Maumee OB/GYN

  • I think it depends on the doctor.  My OB/GYN told me she likes to see women for the first visit at 8-10 weeks.

  • I had my daughter through that practice.  My first appt. was at 8 weeks.  Ann Ruch was my doc but I did several others for various appts. throughout the pregnancy.  Be aware, unless they have changed, they only deliver at Toledo.  I wish I would have known that before I had my daughter.  I would like to have delivered at St. Lukes for proximity to my house.
  • Thanks ladies!  I go to Dr. Mohammadione, so I guess I'll find out for sure tomorrow when I call back.  It's nice to know that it doesn't seem like I'll have to wait until 12 weeks though!

Thanks for the info on Toledo Hospital.  We live very close to Flower Hospital, but I guess going to Toledo isn't a very far drive either.

  • Just remember that Toledo is a level 3 NICU so if anything happens your baby is already at the best hospital in our area..(for promedica group anyways...I think St. V's and Toledo are on par with each other but that's just MHO.

Plus my dad works there and I like to say he saves little baby lives everyday!  :)

    Good luck and congrats!

  • I see Dr. Ruch there.  I believe my first appointment was around 8 weeks.  That appointment, however, was with the OB nurse, not the doc.  It was pretty much a history gathering appointment after which I was sent to the phlebotomist from hell to have blood work done.  My 12 week appointment was with Dr. Ruch at which time we were able to hear the heartbeat.  It also involved a full exam...which I tried to warn DH about, but he was not fully prepared to witness that and is now forever scarred!

Haha I'll definitely have to make sure I prepare him enough for that.  Thanks for the heads-up.

p.s. Brandy I remember you from the Toledo board on TK.  I didn't realize you could use the same screen name for TB and TN.  My Knot name was JenandJeff2009.

  • I started out there and they had me come in for my first appt at 8 weeks, but just a warning, it will be with a nurse, not the OB.  And they will just go over what to do and what not to do and order bloodwork. Won't be very exciting. I cannot remember exactly, but I think my appt with the OB was at 10 weeks and then at 12 weeks had the NT scan.  My husband went to the 12 week NT scan because it was our first real U/S.  They did do an early dating U/S for me, only after I had to tell them a million times my cycles were really long and they had my due date off by a month.  I was right, they were not.

I left the practice after that because I was very unhappy with them.

    Congrats and Good Luck!!!

  • If you want to deliver at Flower, I can recommend my OB.  I think I have sent about 6 girls from this board there and everyone always loves her.  Dr. Puckett.  She is AMAZING!!!  I loved delivering at Flower.  We live about 2 minutes away, so it was nice when my water broke we didn't have far to go.

Toledo is obviously the place to be if you have complications or multiples and she will deliver there if that is the case.

I think right after I got married and tried to get onto the knot, it would automatically take me here.  Annoying as hell then!
