Wednesday Randoms

Wednesday is like watching flowers grow. LOL

Ugh some wingnut pulled out in front of me all of a sudden this morning to go across to the other side lane. Thank god I did not hit her. And car is paid off in Feb. **crosses fingers**  no accidents please

Re: Wednesday Randoms

  • Crappity crap crap.  One of the prongs on my ring is bent again.  Awesomesauce.  Going to get another lecture from the jewelry people.  :)
  • Wake up people!

No one has anything random to say?  Really?!

I had a delicious pastry this morning.

I really don't want to work today.

Is winter over yet?  This is already getting old.

  • I just got notified that my work is no longer supporting offsite employes-- ME. I can work full-time onsite (which would require more changes than I am willing to make), or gracefully bow out.

And what's with the dumb Aruba ad that keeps popping up into my face?! EVERY time I click something on here, I get another palm tree in the face. Enough already! I haven't clicked you yet; I'm not about to now.

    I need cookies.

  • Same ad happening for me too.

I want spring here. Even 45 degrees would be nice right here. Anyone making any plans or have ideas for Valentines yet? The stores sure are prepared. We went right from Christmas smack into Valentines and then it will be Easter. Ugh

  • Yike Kate, I'm sorry to hear that.  I know how you feel. I found out when I was pg with Amelia that I couldn't work from home anymore.

  • Oh Kate, I'm so sorry!

I recently discovered green monster smoothies and I am addicted.  I don't even like spinach on its own, but mixed in a smoothie you can't even taste it, it's bizarre.  And delicious.

    Whoa.

Are you the only off-site employee? You only work a handful of hours each week, right? Why would this be a big bother to them? And why would your options only be full-time (i.e. paying much more) or nothing?

You don't have to answer in specifics of course if you don't want to...I'm just baffled by this. And so sorry that you're out of work.

    Thanks.

There is one other off-siter, my boss, in Vermont. She is the boss of the outsource company that hired me (and several others--they are onsite) for a local company. The reasoning is that the cost to maintain offsite functionality is too high. I don't see how; I use my own equipment and they have never supported anything I've needed--helpdesk-wise. They say work quality is not an issue; they've been happy with performance, but don't want to pay for me (and my 20hrs or less per week) anymore.

I have no idea how my being onsite--for which I would require a raise--would be cheaper.

Yeah that makes no sense AT ALL :(  Is there any way you can appeal or fight to keep your position as is?

Nope. I have no support there, or from Vermont. The Vermonter is also being relieved of her duties, though it's not a big deal b/c she has plenty of other work.

I ate (drank?) one of those every single day.  Until I got pregnant.  They made me puke, I can't wait to try them again.  So good and such an easy way to get a lot of nutrients.

Thanks. Yeah, it is weird. Even weirder in the building, which is why I think by next week I'll be over it.

Charleston is lovely. Lots of fun things to do and see. Just don't go in early July. We encountered 100% humidity, my camera lens fogged up and I almost died. (Not really, but I am no fun when it's that humid!)

I'd love to see Savannah, too, so I guess I'm no big help to you.

Ha!  I'm sure I would be that dramatic if I were there in the summer too.  Smile

  • Sorry to hear about your work troubles Kate. :-(

    Kitty Purry is hilarious.

We are taking our parents to a Griffins game this weekend - I'm excited because I haven't been to a game yet this season. :-)  Speaking of sports, Tigers opening day is on a Friday again, which means we will be in attendance.
