Good Morning Ladies,
Ok, so I posted this on the travel board, but figured that since I actually know some of you, maybe you'd be able/willing to help me out with this. We're leaving Saturday so I'm trying to get this taken care of now. Here's the details!!!
DH and I are leaving for a 8 day 7 night
Carribean cruise this weekend. We're flying to Miami a day ahead of time, so I'm
trying to get everything ready by Wednesday so I don't have to worry
about getting things together @ the complete last minute. This is where
I need help. I haven't been on a cruise before, and while I've seen all
the check lists and stuff like that for "what to bring/what to leave"
I'd like to know from you all what you think I should pack. I've got
DH's stuff pretty much packed so I'm not too worried about that.
Here's what I've packed so far:
Me:
2 swimsuits
Khaki shorts/khaki capris
2 LBD's (so I have a choice)
denim shorts
Cami's
Tank tops
t-shirts/swim suit cover up
Lingerie (a must have-esp considering this is a late honeymoon-lol)
Sneakers/Flops/comfy heels/sandals for formal nite
DH:
Khaki shorts
Denim Shorts
2 pairs of swim trunks
t-shirts
linen pants
1 short sleeve button down
I'm also packing a rolled up extra bag that one of us can use as a carry-on for the return flight if we run out of room.
Ok, so what am I leaving out/should I add to this list??
Also, right now I have everything rolled/folded in 1 standard size rolling suitcase. Should I stick to that or have the 1 standard size suitcase and 1 smaller rolling suitcase??
Any advice you can give would be VERY helpful!!
Re: leaving for vacation in 5 days...need help!!!
I've never been on a cruise so I'm no help really... the only thing I would question though at first glance is how dressey are DH's linen pants? Just make sure they're comparable in dressyness to your LBD's. Maybe a long sleeve shirt for him too for formal night? Would a tie possibly be required? I know some cruises have formal dining rooms where dress shoes are required so just make sure to have some non-sandal shoes for DH.
Also taking an empty bag (duffle or otherwise) is a great idea since the shopping is supposed to be excellent on cruises! When I travel I also take a small medicine chest with me. I know the ship will have an infirmery but you really don't need to go to all that hastle if you need a headache pill or something for motion sickness.
When we travel I usually take in my "medicine chest"
sunscreen
aloe
pain pills
tums/pepto
immodium
antihistamine
BCPS (OF COURSE!)
band-aids (the kind with neosporin already on them.)
Also, I've never cruised and I know you haven't either. I don't usually get motion sick but I'd pack some dramamine. I'm guessing they can really jack the prices up for that stuff on the ship.
You may also want to pack a little beach bag for when you're going out to lay on the deck etc. A bag for your towel, flip flops, a good book, sunscreen, etc.
You also may want to pack a visor/straw hat etc, though it may be hard to keep on...
Have a GREAT trip!
Thanks for all the advice/suggestions.
I'm in the process of packing a rolly suitcase with just our formal nite/dinner attire in it. That way I'll have more room for the mix/match stuff/as well as our "bathroom essentials."
I'm packing 2 pairs of shorts and wearing 1. Plus I'll have my gym shorts that I can also wear on excursions-they're loose so it's not a big deal there. I've packed a sweater and a wrap as well. Shoe-wise I'm set, I just need to figure out which of DH's "office shoes" will work.
MRSZ-thanks for the note on linen pants-I also packed a pair of his "dressy" khaki's, just in case. I'm going to CVS or something on Wednesday to get all the drugstore stuff-contact solution and all that.
I'll probably just take my Life is good hat to use as a sunshade-in addition to the sunscreen of course. :-)
I'm wondering what to use as a swimsuit cover up??? I don't really have the time to go find another wrap or something. I'm thinking if I just use one of my t-shirts and a pair of shorts-same as I would w/ any other vacation, I think I'll be alright.
Thanks again and if you have any other advice please let me know.
MRSZ-btw-have you heard from tommy/gotten your order yet??? Let me know. :-)
Hello,
I have been on a couple of cruises and I have found www.cruisecritic.com extremely helpful in planning everything from what to bring to excursions. The message boards are great too. Have Fun!

I sent Tommy the address list. I have still not received my candles though.
