Where to stay in Hawaii for vacay???

Ok so DH and I narrowed our vacation down to Hawaii in June. Neither of us have ever been so I need reccomendations on which island to stay on and which hotels/resorts are worth the money. We basically just want to relax on the beach and are looking for a little bit of privacy (meaning not as many families with little kiddos running around Embarrassed). I know alot of people honeymoon there so any advice would be appreciated!

 Thanks ladies!!

  • We always stayed on Maui growing up but it is def a fmaily spot. But i hear Kaui is more "adult" and private. IMO I love all of Hawaii so it is hard to pick any one island to stay on.  As far as where to stay at, when we would go to Maui we would stay at the Royal Kahana(sp?) they are like little condos so you have  a little dining room, kitchen, ans living room alon with your bedroom. • Hands down- Kauai!  It's far less commercialized and tourist-y as the other islands.  It's really relaxed and laid back, absolutely gorgeous.  We stayed at the Grand Hyatt in Poipu- it was 15 years ago (in high school, with my parents) but I believe it's still a really nice resort.  Even though my parents took us kids I remember it being not extremely kid friendly, definately more geared towards adults.

  • I second Ritz Carlton Maui. We have stayed other places in Maui and experienced the tourists and lots of families but Kapalua is incredibly beautiful and very quiet. If you don't want to spend the money on the Ritz Carlton, there are a lot of vacation condos in Kapalua that are even more private and quiet.
  • Thanks guys! That really helps narrow it down. I am going to look into the Ritz in Maui and some resorts on Kauai.
