What are your favorite ipad apps?

DH purchased me one for my birthday.  He bought the wifi version and not 3g, so, I'm looking for some fun apps that may not require internet all the time that are fun.  I would like the piano app they have installed at the Apple store, but I can't find which one that is.  I'm open to any suggestions and have a $50 gift card to get me started.

Re: What are your favorite ipad apps?

  • I like FlipBook a lot and its free! I only have the Wifi version as well and it works. In fact, the only app I've ever bought was for my photo business and I regret it. So I suppose its free apps for me!

  • I love Angry Birds, Doodle God and Jumbline.  I also have pretty much every free e-reader program so that I can shop around for books.

  • Flipboard is incredible if you read any blogs! You can connect it to a Google Reader account, and it basically creates a magazine of all the blog posts. It looks gorgeous! (you can also connect it to Facebook and Twitter to get those updates)

iBooks and the Kindle app are both great, and I use the iPad for a lot more reading than I expected. Check out inkmesh.com or "Like" them on Facebook to find out the later free books for Kindle and Nook. It's a nice way to try things out before committing to buying any books you want.

Words with Friends is a great Scrabble game, but you need friends with iPhones, iPads, etc to play against. Cut the Rope is one of my favorite iOS games. It's a puzzle game, but it's so adorable! You can try out the free version to see if you want to buy the full thing. Dizzypad is another cute, simple game, and if you like its cute little frogs, you might check out Pocket Frogs. Lastly, I got a copy of Mirror's Edge from a Christmas promotion, and it's quite impressive. It's kind of an action game, but the graphics are suitably impressive and the tough controls aren't bad. I've been having a lot of fun with it, and I'm not much of an action game person.

Oh! And you should consider buying Atomic Web Browser! It's so much better than the Safari app, because it actually has tabs in the browser, so you can load multiple pages. It's so much faster and easier to use! The downside is that the trick to disable JavaScript to post on the Nest doesn't work, so I have to switch back to Safari to post. (When is the Knot/Nest going to become iOS compatible?!?)

What is Doodle God? I can't find that in the app store.

Are you searching for only iPad apps?  I went back and looked in the app store, and it looks like I installed the iPhone app on my iPad.

It's a game where you start with four elements - earth, fire, water and air - and you mix them together to create new elements.  There's something like 250+ elements that you can make from the basic 4.  I wasn't sure if I'd like it when I first bought it, but it's surprisingly addicting.
