What do to in/near Kohler?
I am dying to go the the Kohler Waters Spa. The American Club is a bit pricey for us to stay at, especially if I would be going to the spa. What is there to do in or near Kohler other than the spa. DH would be bored going to a spa. Is there any good shopping or malls nearby? Can you recommend another place to stay other than the Kohler properties that would still be romantic and nice, but not as expensive?
Re: What do to in/near Kohler?
I recommend staying at the Inn on Woodlake in Kohler, it is less expensive but very nice. I also recommend visiting the Kohler Design Center and if you are there during the week going on the factory tour which is free.
They have some boutiques within Kohler but no nearby malls. All the restaurants are great though. The John Michael Kohler Art Center is very nice too.
Besides the boutiques at the shops on Woodlake there isn't to much shopping to do. They are still fun to look at. I always liked popping into the Wisconsin Trader lots of cabin/back woods styled decor items.
Lived there so don't have many hotel recs. I believe they re-did most of the rooms at the Inn on Woodlake. I think you still get access to the water spa area when you stay there but I'm not positive.
If you are not going in winter there is always golfing if your DH is into that.
Lots of great places to eat in the area. Some of my personal favorites are River Wild Life (if your staying at a Kohler property otherwise you won't be able to get in), Il Ritrovo (Sheboygan), Trattoria Stefano (Sheboygan), Bread & Bean (Sheboygan Falls great for a lunch and dinner too). Elkhart Lake is a neat little city too lots of antique places. I like eating at the Padlock Club and Lake Street Cafe when there.
If you are arriving after late April early May there is a great drive in that opens up once winter is over called Chester's that is in Plymouth. It's my favorite place for a cheeseburger and fries.
