Dubliner vs. MacDinton's *Shawna
F/U to my other post (and thanks for the ideas)....
What is different and the same about these bars? I have been to MacDinton's, but not Dubliner. Does D. have a band? Do people dance? Are drink prices similar? Does D serve food?
Re: Dubliner vs. MacDinton's *Shawna
I find that Dubliner has a bit of an older crowd like late 20's where as Macdinton's has more of an early 20's crowd so I prefer Dub. It's also more casual. They have bands always on Friday and Sat night and yes people do usually dance right in front of the band - especially me. But yeah it's usually a mix of people chilling and people dancing. I think the band usually starts around 10 or 11. They do have food there (there Irish Nachos are to die for... waffle fries with ground beef, cheese, and all the other nacho toppings) and they also have really good pizza. I would say their drink prices are same as McD's but fyi they don't have liquor at the South Tampa one. They are more known for their beers and they do have wines.
I guess I'm just kind of over the whole Macdinton's scene.. it's a lot more crowded there, a little too many south tampa-y people who are trying to impress when I could care less, and it's just a younger crowd.
just my opinion though.
I also like Soho Tavern for just hanging out and getting some drinks, it is very homey and laid back.
Thanks so much for your opinion. I feel the same way about MacDinton's. Last time I went there I wasn't able to drink, so I guess I finally noticed how crowded it was. I was complaining about it and everyone was like, "um, it's always that way here.". I guess when I'm drinking I don't notice and/or care LoL. However, my BFF is a mixed drink girl, where I am totally happy with beer and/or wine, so the S. Tampa Dub. will be out for here.
Can you think of anywhere else that is similar? I'm sure she's really like it to have a band/music, with dancing. It doesn't necessarily need to be in that area.
