yogurt maker????

We spend over 10 bucks on yogurt a week, minimum.  And I hate to see all the plastic we're using.  I think I want a yogurt maker.  Anyone have one?  Thoughts?  A friend told me about one that uses a quart canning jar which sounds perfect to me...but the one she knew about they no longer make.

On the EFF board a bunch of people made yogurt in their crockpot and said it was easy.  They started with a starter of Stoneyfield and apparently it was great.  It might be a good place to start.

I have never heard of a yogurt maker! We eat a lot of it as well.....so I will be interested to hear how you make it and if it tastes good or not!

That crockpot recipe is ingenious!  I'll have to give it a shot, too!  Thanks for asking/posting!

I use the crockpot method and it works really well!  The only issue for me is that you're supposed to use milk that isn't ultra-pasteurized and I have a hard time finding organic milk that isn't in our area.
