Random Morbidness

Have you and your DH discussed where you want to be buried or if you want to be cremated or any of that?

Keith and I have discussed it a bit, but nothing concrete.  As of last March when his dad died, he wants to be buried in his hometown.  I do not want to be buried there at all.  So, I don't know.  I guess we'll see if time changes one of us.

Re: Random Morbidness

  • Up until 2 weeks ago I wrote obituaries for a living, so it's always been something important to me to discuss. I still don't know if I want a "place" or if I want to be cremated and spread (skattered, sprinkled, ftw.) Joe doesn't wanna talk about it.
  • We both want to be cremated.  What to do with our ashes is still TBD...I am thinking off the coast of a beautiful tropical island would be nice.  Brian joked that he wanted to be scattered on Mt. Everest since he is big into hiking

  • We haven't discussed that yet, but we have discussed what we would want if one of us was declared brain dead or such. I seriously would want someone to pull a Dr. Kavorkian  on me and not keep me alive for years and then let me starve to death after they pull the plug. But no burial plans yet...

  • I told Ken I wanted to be cremated or donated to science.  I promise I am not a total freak, but I am a science teacher (so a little weird by nature).  Someone has to be willing to donate their bodies so people can learn.

A client at MIL's law offices works with glass and she will take cremated ashes and put them into a glass piece.  MIL had it done with her dogs' ashes.  I think it is a neat idea.

  • DH knows I want to donate my organs, but he is not so sure about himself.

I DO NOT want to be cremated. My Grandma was, and I hate that I don't have a place to visit, even though I have some of her ashes. And the process of it weirds me out...but that's what she wanted, so she's all over the country lol.

I know that down the road, when we are much older, we want to be buried together. However, when his first wife died he wanted to get a double plot, but his family talked him out of it, so (God forbid) if that situation happened again, I'm okay with a single plot.

  • We both want to be cremated. Hubs wants to be spread at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. I don't know what I want done with mine. I told him if I died first he can do what he wishes with my ashes as long as he didn't spread me in the yard and pee on me (or have the dog do it). lmao.

My grandparents are creamated and buried (or whatever they call it for ashes) at a cemetry near my parents. I wouldn't mind that. Or being spread. I haven't decided.
