Taco night ideas please

We do theme night family dinners in my family. It's just a way for us to get together & have fun. For my mom's birthday we're going to do a Taco bar & black bean soup. I was just curious if anyone had any ideas that I could add to the menu. I'm thinking all the taco fixings, chips & salsa & black bean soup. Any other ideas would be great. Thanks!

Re: Taco night ideas please

  • omg I could binge on taco night...and that all sounds really filling...you could buy choco tacos or try to make sopapillas for dessert...and that's about it unless you wanted to do alcohol
  • I love Fiesta Night, woohoo - haha! This is my table...fried tortilla/taco sheels, taco meat, shredded cheese, shredded lettuce, salsa, guacamole, sour cream, sliced black olives, fresh cilantro, lime wedges, cheese enchiladas, tortilla chips, refried beans and yellow rice (I love Goya yellow rice, mmm!!) and with your black bean soup...YUM!! Maybe you could add margaritas, beer and limeade for a 'different' non-alcoholic drink to go with your theme.

  • We make fried ice cream when we do taco nights - it's always a huge hit and simple.

Make balls of vanilla ice cream and freeze until they are hard. Roll each in egg and crushed frosted flakes and freeze for about an hour. Repeat the egg, frosted flakes, and freezing. Dip each in a pot of hot oil quickly - just enough to do a quick fry. Put in freezer again and serve with whipped cream, chocolate syrup, etc.

  • I tried fried ice cream years ago and hated it, ick! Maybe it was the place I had it, who knows...I should try it again. Wonder if it'd be any better using a flavored ice cream...
  • I'd add refried beans, spanish rice, and some sort of corn.
