Need some advice

So we are currently trying to sell my car.  I know there are some scams that go around but I put it up on craigslist last night and recieved some emails.  One of which says this:

 Hi,
I saw the description and the price and they are okay by me.
Though I'll not be able to come for the pick up myself because i am
currently away on a business trip, but I'll have my Mover Come for the
pick up once we finalize with the payment.
I will mail a certified check to you, after you receiving, confirming
and cashing of the check i will have my mover to come for the pick up
but i will need you to provide me your full name to which the check
will be issued, your mailing address and your contact phone number.
Pl get back to me ASAP with the details i asked for so that i can
start the payment process.
                              Thanks

So I replied saying "What, you don't want to see the car before you hand over me some money"?  Really weird.

He writes:

Hello,
I just want let you know that i am a local but am out of state
presently because i went for a business trip, i would have come to see
at your location for cash and carry but i don't want to loose this
item that why i said i can issue check to you via ups courier service
because i will like to meet this item at home upon my arrival because
there is shipping company that will come to your location for pick up
as soon the check clears........pls get back to me with your info i
requested in my previous mail if you still want to sell it to me.

My mind say's SCAM!  But I can't tell, I don't sell many things.  I think I might just ignore it at this point.  It just seems strange to me.

  • Yeah...when dealing with craigslist you wanna do in person and cash only 'cause it's common on CL that checks and money orders are fake. Plus if I'm buying a car you can bet anything that I'm gonna have to look at it and even test drive it, not just send it for pick up withouth checking the condition the car is in, KWIM?

  • Yeah there are scams for rentals too.  They say "drive by, we have tenants in and can't show" and show you pics and then ask for payment.  It is terrible how careful you have to be!
