technology question: recording a meeting
So I have to recorsd a meeting later this week, and will have to provide my own recording device. My coworker said to just use my stereo (boombox) and a blank casette tape. That the speakers will record the meeting. Now, I'm no tech guru, but there's no way that will work right? There has to be some kind of microphone or some input to pick up the sounds right? Do they even sell blank tapes anymore?
Could I just do it on my laptop somehow? Should I just go pick up a digital recorder and call it a day?
Re: technology question: recording a meeting
I have no answer to your question but I just keep picturing you walking into your meeting with a boom box over your head like Lloyd Dobler from Say Anything being all "I'm ready to record this meeting!". Which I really think you should do.
Edited to add a visual--in case you needed it.
"Once I got a bath bomb that, once exploded, filled the tub with confetti. Little sharp metallic pieces of confetti. The product description said nothing about confetti. Oh look, there's a tiny, sharp metallic blue star stabbing me in the labia. HOW RELAXING. " - NoisyPenguin

A boombox and blank tape will record room noise if there is no other music being played on the boombox, but you wouldn't have a digital file and the audio would be craptastic.
Does your computer have a built in webcam? I'd go that route.
