I just received my invite to the foreign service oral assessment! Squeee!!! I was starting to get a little worried with all of the talk about bloated registers and impending budget cuts and inviting less people to the orals. I am seriously in shock. I've cleared two of the three hurdles to becoming a FSO. This last hurdle is like a pole vault compared to the other two and the vast majority don't clear it (and even those who do are not guaranteed to be hired off of the register), but I can't help but be just a tiny bit hopeful that my dream is going to come true!
Now all I have to do is prepare for and take this assessment before we ship out overseas in May. Oh, and get over my strep throat which has me stuck at home today. Yikes- I'm going to be busy!
Thanks as always for letting get out all of my bottled up emotions- you guys are the best!
Re: Omg-omg-omg
The assessment dates run from late March through July. The registration window opens January 31st, i.e. the day before we find out where we'll be moving in May! I'll need to be at my computer bright and early to make sure I can get a test date for before we ship out.
Thanks to you for support and editing assistance with my narratives, Lauren. I owe you some credit for passing!
Thanks again to everyone else for your interest and support! You guys are like a super awesome virtual family!
