swagbucks?

who does this and what's the deal?  I have the toolbar and am usually a google user - to earn points do I search through swag bucks?  I fully admit I'm lazy and have not really gone through the site.  If you use it, how do you get the most swag bucks? :-)

Re: swagbucks?

  • I've got a couple $5 Amazon certificates through it before, but only when they are on really huge discount specials. Otherwise I just can't be bothered. The links in the search results are blocked at my school, so its an extra step for me. The "prices" for the rewards are also really high for anything worthwhile, so it takes a long time for it to amount to anything.

If you want to earn stuff by using your search, I actually prefer MyPoints.com since I can combine it with magazine subscription points and earn certificates a lot faster. If you haven't signed up, check them out via my referrel link, if you wouldn't mind: http://tinyurl.com/6k9spl3

I've earned a bunch of certificates to LLBean through them since I joined. I think the best point amounts come from subscriptions since you get points per subscription instead of cash back like through eBates. But MyPoints also has some sites that ebates doesn't, so it works best to compare the two.

  • We use it and in less than a year earned about $80-90 to amazon.  You can put your points towards other things but I wasn't interested in anything else and honestly can't remember what they were.

You get up to a certain number of points for anyone you refer and some of their points too... so with 3 referrals to friends earning points was easier.  You can also answer a daily poll and sometimes in the toolbar there will be time sensitive codes to enter.  Sometimes they offer bigger surveys but you have to fit the demographic related to what the survey is about and I've never been able to do one.

I search for things all day so sometimes I just have to remember to use sb until I earn my points for the day.  I haven't earned any other way (you can read their blog & fb and search for less obvious clues to codes, and you can trade in electronics and other stuff I think?) but you average about 10 points/day, more if you do everything and don't forget.  To me, $90 was well worth a few clicks a day.
