Hey Everyone!
My husband and I are currently in the process of building a Ryan Home in the new community of Riverwalk Townes. We LOVE the area! My husand and I grew up in Yorkcounty and want our future children to go to Yorkcounty schools. We have a written contract with Ryan Homes but our home will not start construction until Feb 2. I have been doing alot of reading on the internet regarding reviews and have found ALOT of realllllly bad reviews, but none for Virginia. Has any purchaced a Ryan Home in Yorktown or Williamsburg? What are your opinions of the work done and quality of the home? So far our impression of the company has been wonderful! Any feed back would be great!
Re: Ryan Homes in Yorktown VA--Good or bad?
The "funny" thing about online reviews is this: You only hear the horror stories. So few people that are happy actually go back and put up a praise report.
Moral of lesson: Take reviews with a chunk of salt and be your own best advocate.

Are these down past the Middle School over by the weapons station? That's not a great area of town. It's pretty crime ridden, I tried to get DH to look at those a few years ago when they first started and there's another community near there also, once we turned onto Goosley he was like "no way am I living in this part of the county." I'm not from Virginia, so I had no idea about the area, but DH was born and raised in Seaford, so thankfully he knew what was good and bad.
So I would make sure you've checked the area out thoroughly.

I dont know about the homes in Yorktown. But Ryan Homes in general - I would say they build an average house. Not a high end builder - and I have heard some horror stories - but you hear horror stories about every builder.
I would personally try and find a local smaller builder - I think they do a better job most of the time.
