taxes

Does anyone know a tax person or company in Lancaster area that prepares taxes for not a lot of money?  DH and I until now have filed on turbo tax; however this year is the first year we are married.  Do you guys have any insight on what we should expect (i.e. more money back, less money back) with filing together?

 Thank you!  Big Smile

Re: taxes

  • we filed jointly last year.

i've never used turbo tax but i assume that like some other programs you can fiddle around and input several ways (married filing separately, married filing jointly) and see which works best for you. if you have the time to do that of course.

my mother worked for H&R block and she advised us to file jointly but im not sure what that was based on haha.

  • I agree with pp, on most of those programs you can file a few different ways and see how it works out best for you.  Last year filing jointly worked better for us. I think we got about $500 more back.   Maybe you want to try to use the program first and see if it's just as easy as it was before.   I would assume you would be using the long form and I know places charge anywhere from $40 up depending on how much you have.   Good luck!!
