Terrible Tuesday

Want to be bad, really bad?  It's just us here, no one will know so go!

I have an annoying a$$ co-worker.  He rides a motorcycle with out of state plates.  In CA if you have been living in the state for more than 3 or 6 months ( I forget which it is) you must register your vehicle with the CA DMV.

I heard a commercial some time ago which urged people to "report" any vehicles with out of state plates, where the owner has resided here for the 3 or 6 months mentioned above.  So...I want to report him to the DMV.

I know it's so bad of me but this guy should register his bike.  I don't think he even has insurance.  Although I wish I could report him I'm chicken sh!t and I won't do it.

  • Oh I know exactly how you feel about reporting someone! My oh so truthful BIL and FIL and everyone else decided to forge a HS diploma (actually had some friend of FIL to do it for them) just so he could get a job at a prison since they needed a copy of a HS diploma/GED and he didn't have either. It takes all I have not to report BIL every day. And what really irks me is that when he graduated from the school everyone was "so proud" and all that mess.

Dude, go take your two other tests and get your GED and stop forging GOVERNMENT papers.

  • Wow - Debbie I would totally report his a$$!

My "boss" at work (and I use that term very loosly) has been here for 6 years and refused to get fork lift certified because he claimed staying late one day or coming in on the weekend for a few hours took him away from his family and that comes first.  Family coming first I can understand, but when he needs to be certified for safety reasons - I mean come on!  No one here above him has had the balls to force him to get certified...that is until last week!  The certification is a 4 hr video, training, and a written test.  Last week him and the branch manager here went into the conference room over lunch (this is while my boss is supposedly watching this 4 hr video), 2 hrs later they come out of the conference room and claims he's ready for the test.  Our trainer was ready to go over the test w/ him before he took it to help him with whatever questions he had, but my "boss" refused.  He took the test, slapped down his answers, and was done in minutes.  He only ended up missing 1 question.  I would bet everything I own that the branch manager told him what would be on the test and the answers.  This man is seriously dangerous on the fork lift in our warehouse and him not taking the certification seriously doesn't help matters...I would so report them, but I don't have any actual proof...just my gut! Zip it!

    On a different note...
Also, I'm going on Thursday up to our Richmond location where I'm being considered for a job...I'm 99% sure they're going to offer it to me since we'll all be face to face.  It's still up in the air on our side if I'd be even able to take the job since Don hasn't been able to find out if he can transfer his job to Richmond even though they're based out of there.  I was hoping that even if I couldn't take the job in Richmond that the branch manager here would want me to stay enough that he'd throw some money at me, but I heard him make a comment today that the comany still has their raises frozen.  So, I feel in complete limbo right now and I'm so over it!

forget about him being annoying for a second and be realistic--i lived in CA for 3 years and only had my car registered there for half of that time.  i know i was technically illegal, but my car was registered in NH and i wasnt going to pay the RIDICULOUS fees to the state of CA to register it when i could continue to pay NH only about $70 a year instead of the $500 i eventually did pay them when i switched the registration over.  on top of that, the CA dmv system is THE WORST GOVERNMENT RUN SYSTEM in this country, as far as i am concerned.  i say, more power to this guy for keeping his bike registered elsewhere.

I am no friend to the DMV and since this guy isn't harming anyone I wouldn't report him. I don't believe in borrowing trouble...karma and all that.

I haven't done a lick of work today and I have bad gas.

I have a $hit ton to do tonight and tomorrow night. Winter weather back it up!

  • I know it sucks when someone is a jerk, and you want to get back at them any way you can, but a ton of people don't register their cars in their new states.  If his out-of-state registration is expired, or you're SURE he doesn't have insurance, then report away, but otherwise I would leave it.  I know you're saying that you probably wouldn't really do it, but just in case you get tempted :)

In Baltimore City there's a law that if a car doesn't move for three days it's considered 'abandoned', and the city will tow it away.  The only way they know is if someone reports it, and sometimes super-biitchy neighbors do this for cars that they KNOW aren't abandoned.  It's really terrible, because it's a CITY, after all, so a lot of people walk or take public transportation to work/school.  If we hadn't had a driveway, we probably would have gotten towed often because our car would sit for weeks at a time.

That being said, I was tempted to report a car with expired registration in my neighborhood.  It obviously didn't run and was taking one of the best spots, and since it never moved it was always in the way of the snow plows.

Yes   I did the same thing for all 4 years I lived in NYC.  No way in hell was I going to pay to register my car in NYC and pay the ridiculous taxes, plating fees and insurance premiums when I could leave IN plates on it and pay less than half of what it would cost per year to be plated in NY.

In the world of law offenses, this one is not that serious.  Though I can understand how someone annoying would drive you to be nit picky about little stuff like this.

Ugh.  We have this big blue kidnapper-looking van parked in our neighborhood that hasn't moved in well over a year.  I'm so tempted to call the HOA and have them tow it away - especially on nights when I come home and can't find a parking space anywhere near the house.

  • I'm irrationally annoyed by the woman who leaves the light on in the bathroom. We work at a renewable energy company, there are signs everywhere about saving energy and turning off lights, etc. However, I am mostly annoyed because if the light is on, I think someone is in the bathroom.

I have been slowly trying to cultivate outside of work friendship with Coworker, T. T and I talk ALOT at work, live a few blocks from each other, both have dogs and are in similar stages of our lives (she's getting married in Sept). T and I are also friends on facebook. The other day (Friday) I mentioned that I was on facebook and saw a picture of her dog (a beagle) and that he looks a lot like PD, which made H and I decide he's husky/beagle instead of husky/shepherd/retriever (along with other things). She gave me a weird look and hasn't said anything to me since. Did she think I was facebook stalking her? Was I facebook stalking her? (If one of my fb friends has cute pets, I look at pics! Sorry! I think pets are adorable)

And my PMDD is getting way worse. I need to go to my endo, but I'm totally dragging my feet. I just don't want to say out loud all of the crazy things that have been happening like clockwork every month. Randomly bursting into tears is the least of my craziness. H and I discussed the possibility of it being a psych issue, but he can predict what kind of crazy I'll be each day the entire week before my period. It used to be kinda bad for 1 or 2 days, now it's terrible for a week. Ugh.

    P.S. NYS DMV sucks!

(An unmatched left parenthesis creates an unresolved tension that will stay with you all day.

I totally see your point and in another situation this would not even cross my mind.  I used to work with a gal who had Texas plates on her car and never wanted to report her.  It's just that this guy is a total douche.  He had medical insurance for his daughter (court mandated).  He didn't want to shell out an extra $200 a month because he was already paying child support.  He had the owner of the company write a letter stating that we do not offer medical benefits just to get out of it.  What kind of parent denies their child medical insurance?  Not to mention that he has had the company order parts for his motorcycle and he has never paid for them.

in this case, i would probably say something. he does sound like a d bag.  however, it would probably be just as much as a hassle for you to report it, knowing the CA DMV!
