running partners or groups

I recently moved to Chicago and am looking for any ladies that live downtown and are interested in forming a running group to motivate each other and make it a little easier to get out there in the cold. I run approx 9-10:30 miles depending on how far I'm going.

  • What part of Chicago are you in?
  • I would love to join you, and I'm downtown. But my pace isn't anywhere near that pace. I'm so slow... :(

If you find downtown running groups, though, definitely let me know! I'm also brand new to Chicago and would love some ladies to run with or people to get to know. chicagocareergirl at gmail dot com.

  • I am in River North so close to the Loop and Lincoln Park.  And I feel like I am totally slow so don't worry about being too slow for me.  I'm training for a 1/2 marathon in March and a full in May so my speed has gone down due to the distances.

  • I'd love to join in!  And I have a friend who would too.

She's training for a 1/2 in April.  But we've both talked about looking for a running group together.

Honestly, I'm not great about running out with weather like this, but definitely come March?

    I live in Lakeview.

  • That sounds great.  I am also finding it difficult to get outside in the cold but I will check back and XP on the fitness board to see if we can get a group together to run 2 or 3 times a week.  I'm all for checking out new neighborhoods to run in.

  • I'll run outside once it gets a little warmer and less icier.  I am DYING to get back on the lakefront path!  My pace is 9-10 but I am pushing for 9 and faster this training season though.  Want a sub-4 marathon this time around!

    Recent Races:
Chicago Half Marathon 9/11/11: 1:58:11 (PR)
Race for the Cure 10k, Chicago 9/24/11: 51:52 (PR)
ING New York City Marathon 11/6/11: 4:13:16 (PR)
  • I'm in Lakeview and currently attempting to run 2 days a week outside.  Usually 3-4.5 miles at a 8:30-9 pace.  With a group I'd definitely be more motivated to run more often so I'd be interested in joining.  I don't mind a slower pace, I'm not training for anything-just like the exercise.
  • I live in the South Loop and would also love to have a running partner come March.  I usually run by the lake front as well.
  • I also recently moved to Chicago and would love to go for runs with a group/partner once it gets a little warmer. I am on the slower end of the spectrum but with motivation I would like to run more often and at a faster pace. I live in Bucktown but would love to run on the lake path.
  • Hi ChiTownBelle,

I see that you are a Chicago runner as well! I am always looking for new people to run with in the city. I am registered for a number of races throughout the spring, summer and fall, including several halves and the Chicago Full. My marathon PR is 3:55 and I am looking to shave at least 5 minutes of my time this year. If our paces and times we run match up, maybe we could run together sometime. Let me know!
