Moms... nightmare at dinnertime
I don't know where to begin.. LOL!! Lately Brianna has been such a MONSTER! She is not listening AT ALL, and dinnertime is horrible! She is throwing her food. She always has but its just worse now. She continues to do it while I tell her not too. I currently have food all over my pants, the kitchen floor is a mess and the seat cushions are stained w/ red sauce. We are averging 1 timeout a night at dinner. She knows exactly what she has done wrong and always bursts into tears the minute her butt hits the "time out chair". I'm just so fed up and my patience is wearing thin. She is almost 21 months... but its like the terrible twos are setting in early? I just don't know what to do anymore. I know the food throwing is a phase and she will eventually learn you don't throw your food. And I know the terrible twos will pass... but seriously... she is a monster! Any help?? = )
Re: Moms... nightmare at dinnertime
the best way to handle this is ignore her.. She will keep doing it because you will response to it. I know its a huge mess and a hassel but ignore her and she will learn that it isnt funny anymore..My girls all did this and i learned to do it.. although i have to bite my tongue and clean !!
I give 2 warnings to sit and eat, then dinner is over for Gabby. I remove her plate and make her leave the dining room . . . no TV, no music, no coming back in to talk to us while we finihs eating.
The food throwing thing used to piss me off in a big way. I made HER clean it up . . . of course, I still had to go over everything, but she had to pick up big pieces of whatever and put it in the trash and I made her wipe the floor/wall/table with a sponge. It takes consistency, but it didn't take long for Gbaby to realize how much cleaning up a mess sucks - LOL!
Good luck!
jude sits for about .2 seconds for each meal. ?i think it's more the issue of sitting still - he really can't do it. ever. ?he doesn't throw his food or anything, he just climbs out of his chair, and throws a giant screaming fit if you try to make him sit. ?it's really frustrating...i haven't found a good answer yet. ?he doesn't seem to care if it means dinner is over, he is a super picky eater anyway, and i feel like he barely eats....
