Holiday burnout

Hi!  Is it just me or do people seem to be burned out by the holidays?  I might be completely mistaking peoples body language but there seems to be an 'out-of-energy' look on peoples faces.

Anyone else notice this?

Re: Holiday burnout

  • Ugh, yes. They are just too commercialized for my liking...the real meanings are so lost.

  • I felt that way too but learned a few things that helped me overcome it.

I shopped after Xmas sales for the next year's presents and once I made edible and homemade gifts I had wanted to try anyway for gifts.

I will tell you in case you don't have kids that the magic blossoms again when you have kids...it is so great to get that excitement back! I had to rein myself in this year, and it will only get better I think as she gets older and knows to get excited.

  • I actually have post-holiday blues.  I like all the hustle, bustle and hype and preparing and baking and shopping and wrapping and visiting, then once we take all the deocrations down on the 2nd it's like....now what?  January in Michigan.  Cold, gray and BORING!  How long till St. Patty's Day???

  • I think its worse since its winter.  Its been cold, and snowy here for weeks.  Everyone is completely depressed.  Next holiday isn't until Memorial Day- which makes people even more depressed.

  • I like the decluttered feel once things are put away.  Not that I like putting them away, it just feels like I decluttered  :)

Its too much of activity and energy that goes in while holidaying. The busy time keeps you occupied. But after the time is over, you are psychologically emptier than being physically tired. I guess that?s what makes the difference.
