wish i had a voodoo doll right now

so i could tourture the a-holes that run DH's company. i'm so fed up and over it right now. i almost want him to quit, but that's putting us in a scary situation too.

Re: wish i had a voodoo doll right now

  • Bummer!  I'm sorry to hear that your DH is in a bad spot right now.  I hope the situation gets better for you guys.

Have you mentioned the issues before and I just missed them?  Or is it something recent that just changed?

  • I hate when you are so aggravated you are stuck between a rock and a hard place.  I have been through this a few times at my job (current and past) and it just sucks.  I hope things improve quickly for him (and you)!
  • derky, i haven't really given details on here. but here it is, i'll try to keep it short.

he's in sales and he's badass at it, exceeds his goals, maxes out on commissions, etc... but he wants to go in a different direction (more product management, than sales). he's told them what he's interested and they've acted as if they're supported. well now a great internal opportunity comes open and he wants to apply. his manager isn't thrilled b/c he's a selfish asshat that wants to keep DH working under his own territory, thus earning more $ for himself. all the way up the chain from his manager to regional VP to VP of sales ... they're refusing to let him go. so this hiring manager with the new opportunity has gone to HR about it and HR is telling him "he (DH) is off limits". it's crap. its unethical. and i'm wondering if it might even be illegal. everyone knows he'd get this job and be good at it. but they're all trying to be puppeteer and dictate his career instead of allowing him to move on to what he really wants.

YOWZER.  That's a doozy right there and yes, I think the voodoo doll would be appropriate!  Does your husband know anyone at his company's biggest competitor?  Maybe he should have a meeting or two with some of the big-wigs over there, and make sure he makes those calls from his office line.  Better yet, if he has a no-compete with his current company, then a move to his competitor would allow/force him into the kind of role he's currently seeking with his current employer.  THEN maybe his current employer will wake up and really realize that they are dealing with lives and not just dollar signs.

Good luck!  I hope it works out OK for you guys.
