NT scan, did you get one?

I didn't with Cassidy.  I didn't want any extra testing back then.  Not that I'm worried about anything, but it would be nice to see this little one again...  Is this a stupid reason?  Help me decide!

Re: NT scan, did you get one?

  • I didn't with Tristan, but I did with Mel because I was considered "advanced maternal age" Sad.  I'm of the mindset, when it comes to these things, that I would rather know than not know.  I like to be prepared.

  • we got one for both -- definitely would like to be prepared for whatever, but also for the chance to see them again!
  • Ditto Pam and Stacey.  I did with my last two pregnancies... was great to make sure everything was still okay, plus if there was anything wrong I wanted to be prepared!
  • I did. I almost decided not to, just because it wouldn't change anything, just give us an indication if something was wrong. I'm really glad I did and got to see the baby again. It was so different from the u/s I had at 8 weeks. I'd just make sure your insurance pays for it so it's not a big added expense.

  • I didn't with Ella but did with my 2nd pg.

  • I did not with Ben but I did with Madeleine b/c I had been so sick (bronchitis, antibiotics, etc.) since I had gotten pregnant that I wanted to be sure all was ok. Otherwise I wouldn't have done it.

I did do the quad screen blood test with Ben at 16 weeks and would have done that with Madeleine if I hadn't had the NT Scan.

  • I did.  I figured why not see the babe :)  My dr said to do it, and if I didn't want to know the results, he wouldn't tell me.  It was up to me.  But he knew after my m/c's that it would just be a piece of mind.

  • They never offered it to me but if they had I would have done it.

  • Our midwife and Dr. both recommended that I do it. So I did and it was awesome getting to see the babes again.

  • I did it. I was happy to see her again, and would have wanted to know if there was something to worry about. Not that it would have changed anything, but so I could be prepared.
  • i don't think that i did.

  • Yes, only because it is completely non-invasive, you get to see the babe again, and better to know and be prepared, just in case there is an issue.

Having to have the extra blood work is the one down side, I am not a needle fan!

  • I didn't because there is enough to worry about with pregnancy, and I didn't want to add to that anxiety because my doctor told me that there was a good chance of getting a false positive result.  I also didn't do it because the results would not have mattered either way to us.
  • butting in: what is the NT scan? i am so out of the loop on the preggo lingo!
  • I did with both girls. I wanted to be prepared for whatever might happen and to see Jordan again. Since I did it with Jordan, I did it with Norah. I'm very glad I did b/c it did find a problem and I was able to prepare myself and get further testing done. I feel that I am/was far more prepared for Norah to have problems than I would have been if I'd just found out at 32w or birth. **Everything looked clear at 19 & 24w f/u's, it was a growth u/s at 31w that found a heart issue.

This is exactly our thoughts and why we did not do it.
