  • TTC: Did you have a TTC check with your OB/GYN before starting?

I did. Basically they just told me to prevent for 3 months after going off of the pill (we TTA for longer because we actually went to the TCOYF method) and to keep taking my vitamins and exercising. I did find it interesting that the NP told me I ovulated on day 14 and to time everything within 3 days of that. Horrible information.

1st trimester: If you?re pregnant with #2 (or 3 or 4), were your early symptoms thesame or different than #1?

     N/A

2nd trimester: Do you know you OB?s c-section rate? Does it concern you?

It did concern me, that's why I asked. His is less than 10% (including breech, they c section all breech births). I believe the national average is well over 20% so I feel pretty good about his rate. I know he has patients that have gone days after their water breaking before inductions so that made me feel like he's not a scalpel happy doctor.  (induction w/o a c section that is...)

  • TTC: Did you have a TTC check with your OB/GYN before starting? Just an email- she sent me info on TTC while vegetarian, since she knew I wasn't eating meat at the time.  She also told me to start taking prenatal vitamins right away.

1st trimester: If you?re pregnant with #2 (or 3 or 4), were your early symptoms the same or different than #1? N/A

2nd trimester: Do you know you OB?s c-section rate? Does it concern you?  Kaiser Santa Clara's c-section rate is one of the lowest in the state (or so they keep telling me).  So no, I'm not concerned!

3rd trimester: Does your OB do internal exams? When does s/he start doing them? If yours does not routinely do them, did you want them?  I haven't had one in quite a long time- I think she said we would do them beginning at 36 weeks.

UpdatesI have PUPPPS- just posted about it on the baby board.  It's making me miserable.  But aside from that, I'm getting ready for maternity leave (1 more week!) and going to classes, classes, classes at Kaiser and Harmony.  Things are starting to feel real!

  • TTC: Did you have a TTC check with your OB/GYN before starting? No. I knew it would be a little difficult, but we wanted to try for a year or so before seeing the OBGYN. I was taking pre-natal vitamins while we were TTC on our own though.

1st trimester: If you?re pregnant with #2 (or 3 or 4), were your early symptoms the same or different than #1? Currently PG with #1, so I don't think I'm there yet. ;)

2nd trimester: Do you know you OB?s c-section rate? Does it concern you? I don't, but that's also because we're delivering at a Kaiser where our OB isn't a doctor. We currently see her at Richmond, but are delivering at Walnut Creek.

3rd trimester: Does your OB do internal exams? When does s/he start doing them? If yours does not routinely do them, did you want them? I've only had one pelvic exam since being pregnant, which was because I was due for my bi-annual exam anyways and I wanted to get it out of the way. As far as measuring me or anything, I haven't had that.

Updates: We are now in the 3rd trimester, and I'm having my 2nd 3-hour glucose test on Saturday (yay for me). Baby is fine, but not moving as much as she used too, or agressively kicking at least like before. I got a little worried about it last night, but she's moving around and I can feel it, so that's good. Her room is coming along as we're waiting for the glider and her crib to arrive and are purchasing her dresser this weekend. Then all we need is some decorative touches and her room is done!

  • TTC: Did you have a TTC check with your OB/GYN before starting? I just told my OB at my last bi-annual exam that before I next saw her, I'd probably be TTC.  She just advised prenatals, and said it was fine to get PG right away off the pill (no months to avoid).  I really wanted to be off the pill awhile though, so we practiced FAM/TCOYF to avoid for nearly a year before TTC.

UpdatesI'll be 10 weeks tomorrow, get to hear the hb for the first time next week, and have my NT scan in 2 weeks.  Excited, nervous, anxious...

  • TTC: Did you have a TTC check with your OB/GYN before starting?Nope

1st trimester: If you?re pregnant with #2 (or 3 or 4), were your early symptoms the same or different than #1?Pretty much exactly the same (as in none).

2nd trimester: Do you know you OB?s c-section rate? Does it concern you? I don't know, but I do have the option of having a c-section this time.  (I had a 4th degree tear with DS - he was sunny side up)  I've pretty much decided against it.

3rd trimester: Does your OB do internal exams? When does s/he start doing them? If yours does not routinely do them, did you want them?I think it was around 38 weeks?  I only had 2 and DS was born on his due date.

L&D: Other than seeing your baby, what is your favorite moment in L&D? my favorite moment was when we got there and they asked when DS was due. I said "today" and they all gave me the side eye and said they'd check me.  I was 7 cm.  :-)  I think they might have initially thought I was someone who believed you just had your kid on your due date.

  • TTC: Did you have a TTC check with your OB/GYN before starting?  At my annual appointment I told him we were thinking about TTC in the summer.  He said to start taking prenatal vitamins now and then wait two months after going off the pill to start trying.  It was pretty brief.  I was expecting more but I guess they can't really do anything until you are actually pg.

1st trimester: If you?re pregnant with #2 (or 3 or 4), were your early symptoms the same or different than #1?  Well I am pg with number 1 and 2 but this is my first pregnancy =)

2nd trimester: Do you know you OB?s c-section rate? Does it concern you?  I am not sure what my OB's rate is.  I know our hospital has a high c-section rate.  My Dr. has also told me since I am having twins that they will not know what I can do until I am much further along and then we can make a decision.  He has been willing to work with us so far so I am not concerned.

Updates: We finally scheduled out anatomy appointment for Feb 18th.  Dh and I are so excited to know what our little jumping beans are.

Also, you can add me to the list on the bio.  I think when I announced the bio was down.  I am due 7/13

  • TTC: Did you have a TTC check with your OB/GYN before starting? I had my annual appointment right before we found out I was pregnant and mentioned we were starting to try. My doctor told me to call him if we had no success after six months. He also recommended that I start charting, but I never got that far.

2nd trimester: Do you know you OB?s c-section rate? Does it concern you? I haven't asked this question but I hope that he only performs c-sections when necessary. My mom had my ob when I was born and he performed a c-section on her because I was going into fetal distress after hours of labor.

  • TTC: Did you have a TTC check with your OB/GYN before starting?

I didn't. I took the last of my birth control pills, read TCOYF while waiting for my cycles to normalize (which took no time at all), and then decided to pull the goalie for real.

2nd trimester: Do you know you OB?s c-section rate? Does it concern you?

I've only met her once and I didn't get a chance to ask this question. But anyone in the practice (whoever is on call) will deliver this baby, so I'll have to ask about the C-section rate of the practice as a whole, and not just my OB.

  • TTC: Did you have a TTC check with your OB/GYN before starting? I did, I had just switched insurance and picked a new OB

1st trimester: If you?re pregnant with #2 (or 3 or 4), were your early symptoms the same or different than #1?

2nd trimester: Do you know you OB?s c-section rate? Does it concern you? I knew the hospital's rate was fairly high and I did everything I could to avoid a C-section. As I wrote in a post on the baby board yesterday, I'm dealing with lots of emotions over the outcome of a C-section, one of them being that I'm just part of a statistic now.

3rd trimester: Does your OB do internal exams? When does s/he start doing them? If yours does not routinely do them, did you want them? They started them at 36 weeks, I contemplated denying a few but never did.

L&D: Other than seeing your baby, what is your favorite moment in L&D? I haven't had much time to process this yet. But having John's support was pretty amazing

First days: What?s been your biggest surprise about parenthood so far? Umm, its HARD! My emotions are all out of whack, I worry about everything and b/c I have to feed on a schedule until her weight is back up, I'm exhausted!

  • TTC: Did you have a TTC check with your OB/GYN before starting?

I did with # 1, not this time around.

1st trimester: If you?re pregnant with #2 (or 3 or 4), were your early symptoms the same or different than #1?

I did not notice, this is # 2 for me.  My symptoms overall have been less noticeable with # 2.

2nd trimester: Do you know you OB?s c-section rate? Does it concern you?

I don't.  I switched insurance just after finding out I was pregnant with # 2.  It was a planned work change.  I've been seeing a NP since my first prenatal appt. I just saw my OB for the first time yesterday at my 16 week checkup.  I will have to check when I see her again.  It is my understanding with Kaiser, you likely will not get your OB to deliver.

  • TTC: Did you have a TTC check with your OB/GYN before starting?

Not with my OB, just with my general practitioner. I wasn't really planning on doing that, but we had the accidental conception and the resulting miscarriage, so I went to the doctor to take care of that. Then I just went in for a general physical for work, and we discussed it again. My doctor was pretty happy for me, would have liked me to lose a bit of weight before starting, was happy that I am exercising and in a much lower stress job than before, and told me to start taking my prenatal vitamins now.

  • TTC: Did you have a TTC check with your OB/GYN before starting?

No. I had switched back to Kaiser in 2010 and had a regular annual scheduled about a month after our BFP. I met my doctor for the first time then.

1st trimester: If you?re pregnant with #2 (or 3 or 4), were your early symptoms the same or different than #1?

    N/A

2nd trimester: Do you know you OB?s c-section rate? Does it concern you?

Since I am with Kaiser, I highly doubt my OB will be there during delivery and so I haven't asked. I did check this site for my hospital's rate... it's high (~25% in 2008), but better than CA's average (~32%). I may ask my OB the rate next visit if I can remember. It doesn't concern me too much, and I'm preparing myself to deal with it if necessary.

3rd trimester: Does your OB do internal exams? When does s/he start doing them? If yours does not routinely do them, did you want them?

Not sure... just entered 3rd tri. We'll probably discuss at my next appointment.

I plan to opt out of internal exams until I am past due. If she doesn't do them at all (doubtful), I don't think I'd request it even after 40 weeks. I prefer the least amount of invasion as possible and want my body to take its natural course. I specifically picked my doctor based on her background and viewpoints on intervention and letting a woman's body bake. Babies in my family are notoriously late (yay me...) and don't want a doctor who will try to pressure me into an induction at 40w1d.

  • TTC: Did you have a TTC check with your OB/GYN before starting? Yes and no. I told her we were going to start trying, she gave me some paperwork to look over (what and what not to do when trying)...we didn't have a lengthy conversation about it. My annual appt is in May, and since we've been trying since October, if things haven't happened by then I will definitely be talking to her more seriously about our options.

  • TTC: Did you have a TTC check with your OB/GYN before starting?

I just mentioned it to my doctor when I went in for a check up and was told to take vitamins, which I already was. If we have trouble I will make an appointment with them.
