hiya,
i just read your posts.
Yea, she's WAY out of control.
Sasha got a huge red/bloody spot on her belly near her thigh. It was crusty too. I tend to over react and take my pets ASAP to the pet hospital and it costs us over 1k everytime when you go to the emergency hospitals.
So this time, I decided to be a less stressful mom. I called our vet the next day. She said to bring her in and i made an apt for 3 days later (sat appt). I kept an eye on it and it didn't seem to bug her that much.
It was indeed a hot spot.
A hot spot is when the dog gets a scratch somewhere and they pick at it and lick it and stuff. They get dirt in the scratch, and then the scratch becomes infected. They need a topical antibiotic from the vet. Usually just a spray you spritz on them.
Its like if your kid cut his knee, and you didn't bandage it or clean the cut. Eventually your kid will get an infection. That's what a hot spot is.
Its not deadly, but can get worse if not treated.
So dont stress. That is what it sounds like to me.

I think that some of these girls on this board just have a way different lifestyle than us. Living in this city is hard. You can't just call up your vet and go see them asap.
First off, our vet is a 45-60 min drive away. If its an emergency or something that needs attention asap then we go to the 24/7 hospital near us. Otherwise, we wait until saturday go down to marina del rey, then take sasha on a walk down the beach/boardwalk area in venice afterwards and make a day out of the vet.
Since we aren't in small town usa, we can't usually drive to the vet in 5 min, and our vets here have 1000's of patients and cant' just see us ASAP.
I agree with you. unless you feel like its an emergency, then you call hte vet and go later. Going to the vet asap means at least a 1k bill which has always been our experience with the pet hospitals.
She didn't respond to your post.
