Laptop screen going out (has to be at the right angle to work)

How easy do you think that would be to fix? I have a feeling a wire is just lose but I don't want to open it up until I know I can put it back together). I have a IT back round & have fixed computer in the past so I have the skill set just don't want to kill my nice looking computer. I have a Toshiba Satellite that is less then 3 years old.

Re: Laptop screen going out (has to be at the right angle to work)

  • Usually the screen is connected to the motherboard by a ribbon, so it is possible the connector is partially seated causing a problem. There's only one way to tell; crack it open.
  • I was afraid of that :) Thanks for the reply I will just work with it until it drives me nut then I will open my poor lappy up.

  • Same laptop, same problem. Mine is about 2 years old.
  • I had the same problem with my Acer laptop. My dad is a computer guru and he ended up replacing the screen. That did the trick

  • I had the same problem with my toshiba.  I replaced the cord.  I can't remember what the cord is called now, but I replaced it myself- ordered it online and used directions from online..  Unfortunatly after that the fan stopped working and it started shutting down randomly.  Now it won't even turn on at all, I think I fried it.
  • My Vaio was doing that and it ended up being a broken screen.
  • I have a Toshiba Satellite that's almost 4 yrs old and the screen went out (white) last summer. I took it to the Tech Recycling Center we have here and they were able to fix it. I was afraid it was the screen itself but there was just a lose wire/cord. Set me back $40 but much cheaper than a new screen or laptop!
