  • I like it. But I tend to go by what I like, and not what is in style. So this probably doesn't help, sorry. LOL I have no idea if its in or out. I think its classic personally.

  • Some form of it always is :)  Individual items can come and go, though, so if you're unsure, post.
  • You're fine. Shabby Chic/Cottage is more of a style, than something that's in style if you know what I mean.
Ditto THR though. Like anything some aspects of it are more "in" than others.

If you like it, do it. It's your house and your happiness.

  • I'm doing my entire house in a shabby/cottage style.  I don't think it's dated like the country style of the 1980's with lots of blue and hearts, but it definitely is not a style that appeals to a broad range of people.  I really like it, though, and since I'm the one who has to see it every day, I'm going with what I like.
  • I think it is one of those trends in which certain things that pertain to it will stick around forever, while others will become dated. I think some distressing will always be timeless, and some fabrics and patterns are as well.

I think I used some shabby chic accents in my house, which is traditional/cottage (well, that is the look I'm aiming for, lol).

As always though...go with what makes you happy. Whats the point of decorating if you don't like what you are looking at?

  • I don't consider it a trend, it's a style of decorating.  Some items can date any style - wall signs, wall decals, paint colors, etc, but if you stick with the classics you'll be fine.

  • I don't think if you have a style of decor it ever goes out of style as such - it's just down to personal taste. You pick an era or look you like even if it's 50 years old :) But there's still a huge following for it anyway. Shabby chic style has evolved quite a lot I think ... from the pink slightly chintzy look to the simpler, slightly grander style - chandeliers and a lot of white is the more popular take on it these days. But yes, all down to personal taste really.
