What do we think about James Franco and Anne Hathaway hosting the Oscars?

Anyone else think that's a tad odd? Discuss, please.

Re: What do we think about James Franco and Anne Hathaway hosting the Oscars?

  • I am so disgusted with Hollywood right now since everyone's feewings were huwt because the mean Wicky Gewvais made jokes about dem at the Golden Globes. I believe I do my share of celebrity ego-stroking when I pay $10.50 to see a movie, and don't care to hear them whine about pretty much anything.

I will probably try to watch, but really haven't in years.

  • Honestly, I don't really enjoy watching awards shows. So the hosts don't matter much to me. I do love Anne Hathaway, feel pretty meh about James Franco. And I thought they usually picked a comedian?
  • They seem like strange choices to me. I like more of an old school host; Billy Crystal or Steve Martin. Anne Hathaway and James Franco seem too new and unestablished to me to be hosting the mother of all award shows.

Did they do a movie together? I'm curious about them together. They seem like an odd match for this.

  • I sincerely disliked Hugh Jackman so anything would be better than that. I wouldn't mind looking at James Franco for a few hours and even Anne Hathaway. Might be a fresh change. James Franco is an amazing actor, really making some interesting choices, he seems like a pretty cool person to me. would like to hear him being himself for a bit.

That's pretty much what I thought. I thought maybe they would have Anne Hathaway co-host with Hugh Jackman (Amy, that's blasphemy!) because they had such good chemistry in their skit together last time.

But it does seem odd that they are so young and not as well known. I couldn't name one movie James Franco is in. Oh, Batman, OK, one.

haha.  James Franco was in Spiderman, not Batman. Smile  He was also in Milk with Sean Penn.  Lately I think he's kind of creepy looking...so we'll see how much I watch.

  • Ricky Gervais was hilarious at the GG but I knew that would be the last time he'd be asked to do it (like Kathy Griffin) because of just what smb mentioned. I rarely watch award shows anymore and liked the days of Billy Crystal and Steve Martin, too. I had to look up James Franco because I recognized the name but didn't remb anything he'd been in. Totally off topic but he graduated from the school I tutor at! Anyway, if they can be funny I'll be for it but I would be skeptical, too.
