Cute, cheap shower locations?

I have a friend getting married and I need to find a place to hold a shower. Anyone ever hold a shower at a restaurant or something? The hostess is out of town, so I'm her scout. I already have her looking at Trish's Teas.

There will be 20 of us, and hostess doesn't want to spend too too much. Bride is into all things natural/well-living, etc.

Ideas? Thanks ladies!!!

Re: Cute, cheap shower locations?

  • Sorry, I can't help you.  I don't think I've every been to a shower that wasn't held at someone's house.  Good luck with your search, though!
  • The Grand Floridian has a tea room thats super cute and fun for a girl's day out... I'm not sure about the price or how much you are looking to spend, but its really yummy and would be very special. :) It's probably too much though.

Lots of places have meeting rooms- Panera's have them (probably not what you are looking for, but just an FYI).... you could also find a community house or club house in a neighborhood ?

  • I haven't been there, but I live near the Veranda in Thornton Park. It looks cute for a shower, but I am not sure about prices or availability. I know they advertise for weddings and parties, so it may be worth checking out. Or Spice, on Lake Eola has a nice patio overlooking the lake, and if you are just doing appetizers it may not be too pricey.
  • I've thrown way too many showers LOL and most places around town that have a private area or even let you host a shower charge $12-$15 per person starting from what I've found. That doesn't include decor or anything else you might do. I'd look for a clubhouse in someones neighborhood or maybe a church or community center. I hosted the nicest and cheapest shower I've had at the Citrus Club in downtown Orlando. I know several people that are members so the room was free and I think for 20 people including parking etc it was less than $200 including invites and decor.
  • Thanks girls. The hostess is looking for about $10/pp so the $12/pp places may not be so bad. Any suggestions on those? I'll definitely start checking out the other ones. Thanks!

  • Something that may be of interest (depending on the number of people). The Russel Home in Orlando, which is a home for disabled children and adults, has a tea room that they open to the public as a fundraiser.

    The Corner Rose Tea Room

    510 W Holden Ave
    Orlando, FL
    407-855-8063

However i think there is only room for up to 15 people.

  • The Corner Rose tea room is one of the places I was referring too that when I called started at $11 or $12. You could also consider Olive Garden...several of them have a semi private room that you can reserve for lunch and you can do soup, salad and breadsticks for everyone...just a thought and that's about $10 per person with a drink. English Gardens in Winter Park also has a tea room for showers (can't remember the prices) ...and the only other though right now would be try Houlihans on i-drive. They have a cool private room up stairs and you can decorate and everything. I know their dinners start at $25 per person for night functions but maybe call them and see if you can do something in your price range at lunch time.
  • I just went to an adorable shower at Infusion Tea in Orlando.  Can't remember the exact location though.  Very nice.  Not sure on price though.
  • My bridal shower was at the Panera in Altamonte.  They have a private room there.  I'm sure some on this board will think that is "tacky", but it was wonderful.  You don't have to pay anything to use the room.  My MOH bought food trays from Panera and brought in a cake.  To me it isn't so much the location, but the people surrounding you.  We had a great time!
  • My sister and mom just threw me a baby shower at Trish's Teas this past Sunday. It was wonderful and the food was great. Everyone had a great time.

I think my mom said it was $15/pp. Definitly worth it though. If you need the room for more than 2 hours there is an additional charge. I wouldn't recommend more than 20 people. There were 20 of us and it was a little cramped.

It was great!  I think it would be a great place for a bridal shower too.  But like Debi said - you don't want more than 20 people.

The room is very nice and the food was really good.  Who would have thought cucumber and dill would have made an awesome sandwich?  Big Smile  The service was great too.

It was a great place for a shower. ?Like they said, the room was a little cramped with all the people, tables and presents but it was a great place to have a "girly" day.

And the food was really good. ?We were starving and it was just enough. ??

  • Yes, the cucumber and dill was delish! I was hesitate to try it since I am a meat eater.....Who'd thought something so simple would be so yummy!
