Green baby toys/stuff?

Hey guys, do any of you know of any websites and/or stores out there that sell USDA-certified organic baby stuff? I've got some over-eager first time grandmothers who are starting to buy stuff and I'd like to give them some guidance about what to get that would fit our lifestyle before they spend too much money. Thanks!

Re: Green baby toys/stuff?

  • Doesn't the USDA only certify agricultural products?

http://www.peapods.com/  has green/natural toys and baby stuff.  I did a quick search and a handful of organic things came up and they were all baby carriers or toys from wood.

  • you can also find a lot of options for organic clothes and EF toys on amazon.com.  cottonbabies.com carries toys as well.

  • There's no such thing as USDA-certified baby stuff, unless you're talking food.

Actually, be careful about the term "organic" when applied to unregulated goods. It can mean nothing.

Hanna Anderson clothing is mainly/all organic. BumGenius AIOs and Green Mountain Diaper prefolds are available with organic cotton. (I can vouch for both - excellent). You can get organic cotton Halo sleep sacks, boppy pillow covers, etc. We liked the Evenflo glass bottles (although your day care may not allow glass). We found Ikea to be an unexpected source for good, wood toys. Their wood baby gym was great for DD.

    Ask for books.

And relax. Seriously. You'll try and try and try - and then your child will fall in love with a noisy, light-up, plastic thing. And you'll just be happy that they are happy. Then you'll realize that "your lifestyle" doesn't need to be so strict. We and most of our parent friends have worked it out that those toys are gifts from grandparents, etc, and we buy the more green stuff ourselves. It works well, everyone's happy.
