White rocks--what to do?

When we bought our house 4 years ago, the couple before us put down white rocks in the giant flower boxes in our backyard (one is about 4'x6' and the other is about 2'x10') and also around the paverstones (that are now moving around--grrr!).  I want to get rid of these white rocks which have now collected 4 years worth of debris and leftover fall leaves.  I want to plant new things in there and clean it up---I want to put in mulch.  Does anyone have any idea where I can put all these rocks?  I can't just put them out with the trash.....I want them out of my yard entirely.

Re: White rocks--what to do?

  • Post them on craigslist or freecycle. People who want them might even come pull them OUT of the beds for you!

  • I was going to suggest the same thing- make sure you stipulate that it is on your time- you dont want people showing up just taking things. Trust me, they will.
  • Thanks ladies!  I didn't realize that anyone would actually want to pick through the flower beds to get these rocks.  My yard is fenced in, otherwise I'd LOVE for people to just come and take them :)  Maybe craigslist/freecycle will do the trick.....

  • Sorry I'm a bit of a lurker but I have the same issue with the stupid white rocks. I never thought of craigslist. Very good idea. But if it doesn't work call some local landscaping companies and see how much they would charge to get them hauled out or if you wanted to do the work you could ask them where they dump their debris and see if you could dump it there.
